I am a south Louisiana native who spent the last 12 years in Dallas and 9 of those refurbishing this Prairie Style home. We love this house and hope that you will as well. We were very torn on our move back to Louisiana and away from Dallas and our St. Thomas community that we were so fond of. We did not have the heart to sell the home we have so many good memories of, and have not ruled out returning to it at some point in time.
Douglas Barrilleaux purchased this house in 2003
This home is conveniently located in East Dallas. It is a very short drive to the Dallas Convention Center (3.8 mi) and anything else in the downtown area. Convenient access to I30, 135, I45 or Central Expressway. Whole Foods is just down the street along with Starbucks and many other local conveniences. The Sante Fe trail is located 2 blocks away for the joggers and bikers, and there are tennis courts just around the corner. Tenison Golf Course (public) is approximately 2 miles away and Lakewood Golf Course (private) is less than that. This house is located in the Historic Junius Heights District next to Lakewood and Hollywood Heights. With the pool in the back yard and pool table in the game room, there is plenty to keep everyone occupied while visiting. Come stay with us and you'll be sure to have a good time.
Fantastic location. Fantastic accommodations. Fantastic owners.
We were in town for a week for a wedding and had family come in from all over the country. We had six adults and four kids ranging from two to ten years and we felt completely comfortable. The house provided plenty of space for everyone and a great staging ground to access the city. We rarely got on the highway and had grocery, great restaurants and downtown all within ten minutes or less. The pool was a highlight for the kids who live in the Northeast and we were pleased to find a fence separating the yard from the pool so we were never worried about the little ones. We spent most of the time in the backyard, lounging and grilling. We'd definitely stay here again. Not to mention Douglas and Tracy were extremely accessible and always quick to respond if we had a question.
What a great house! I invited 3 of my outside sales staff to join me in Dallas for some offsite sales meetings. We stayed in this house for 4 nights and it offered plenty of room for each of us to spread out and have our own space, yet the house offered a great casual setting for us to spend 3 days in informal long-range planning meetings as well. The house was well appointed, clean and easy to find. Douglas and Tracy were a pleasure to work with! The proximity to Deep Ellum and downtown Dallas offered many dining choices and sightseeing opportunities. I would definitely stay here again the next time I have the chance to come to Dallas!
We stayed at this charming home for a wedding. Family members as far away as fFlorida gathered together for a wonderful weekend. This home was comfortable and welcoming. The owners are easy to work with and accommodating.
Close to SMU, Arboretum, Aquarium and museums. I highly recommend this home for your stay in Dallas
We were in town for a family wedding and the house was perfect. The space was well laid out and allowed for family to relax together during the weekend. The pool was a plus since we also had children with us. Location was perfect for wedding events downtown.
Great house. Came to town (seven of us) for the FSU vs. OSU game. Lots of space. Great pool. Good location. Separate suite in the back for those who want to stay up late.
This was our first time to try something like this. It was a wonderful experience! We had 4 generations in this big wonderful house. We went to Dallas for a wedding. One afternoon after the wedding several family members came over and we grilled chicken using fresh rosemary from the flower garden. Extra special treat. The rooms were comfortable and clean, they were roomy, plenty of bathrooms, lots of outdoor seating. I couldn't have asked for anything to be any better. There were plenty of dishes and supplies as well as a pretty wide variety of seasonings available. I would love to go to this gorgeous house. The owners were supportive, I didn't get to meet them but one of our kids did. I will definitely do this again!
