Why Cliff Culley chose Islay & Mid Argyll

Purchased by two families as a holiday home. Property is homely, spacious to enable the adults as well as children to enjoy themselves. Lots to do in area if you want to leave the cottage or just potter in the village on the shore or a short walk to Loch Fine itself. Lochgair which is an inlet of Loch Fyne is sheltered and allows safe swimming and water sports for old and young alike. If you can bring boats and or canoes please do, it will be well worth it. We still love coming here when we can and the kids both young and old love it.

What makes this cottage unique

Right on loch shore. Big Garden and public spaces in Cottage.

Its not pristine but very homely and functional for family holidays.

Wonderful cottage,beautifully located

  • 4 of 5
We had a very nice week in the cottage, in the remote location of Lochgair. We liked the well equipped kitchen and the big table, where all eight of us could have our meals together. Bring a boat if you can. We missed the opportunity to get on the water.

A great property, which is ideal for our group.

  • 5 of 5
The property is ideal for both groups and families, we have used it on a regular basis, to facilitate our diving in Loch Fyne and the surrounding area. With a charter boat based on the doorstep (literally) and a pub about just 200m up the road, it has been perfect for us. We will definitely be using it again.

Idyllic

  • 5 of 5
Stunning setting and a lovely house. With the fires burning it was wonderfully cosy, and waking up to the loch side views was breathtaking. We enjoyed the hospitality of the local hotel, and nearby Inveraray was a great day trip. We will definitely be back.

Family Reunion

  • 4 of 5
We had a fantastic family reunion at Gallanach. The house comfortably held all the family including 3 children. It was great to have a tv room (with toys and games) which allowed the adults quality time sitting (snoozing!) on the comfy sofas. Lots to do - we walked a lot including along the canal and visited the Kilmartin Museum. Lovely views across Loch Gair and round to loch Fyne. A very well equipped kitchen and all very clean on arrival.

We spent a wonderful week to Gallanach Cottage. The house is very attractive and comfortable. The place is ideal to do walks. Splendid walks around Crinan and his lovely harbour. A fantastic day on the Isle of Arran. An incredible day in Inveraray to see the famous Highland Games. So... spendid holidays where sun was every with us !!!

At every turn the sea fringed West Highland landscape of Mid Argyll is steeped in history, from the pre-historic sculptors of Kilmartin and Knapdale to the elegant Ducal home of the once feared Clan Campbell. The beautiful landscapes can be enjoyed on foot with local walks in Ardcastle and Knapdale forests or munro bagging for the more energetic. Cycling is popular from the flat but scenic Crinan canal to the more adventurous mountain biking in the forests. Crabbing and fishing for tiddelers outside the cottage and fishing for bigger fish at the point (1/4 mile). However watch out for the seals, dolphins, basking sharks and even Nuclear Submarine that can be seen in Loch Fyne! Horse riding, golf are available locally. Sea Cruises (including a trip to see the world famous Corryvreckan whirlpool) and ferries to the Islands of Arran, Geiha, Isla, Jurs and Mull all with 1 hr of the cottage. There is so much to see or do and plenty of places to eat including the local hotel only 100 yds.
