About Marie Dingfelder

We are Alan and Marie Dingfelder. We have been married for 50 years and have 2 grown children and 1 grandson. We both grew up in Corry, PA and moved to North East 38 years ago. We live next door to the property. We are calling our vacation rental a guest house because that's just what it is. We have a pretty small house and when we have company from out of town, it is hard to know where to put them. When we renovated the property, we decided it would be a good idea to no longer rent it full time but to use it for our visiting family and guests. We like the results so much that we may at some point decide to move in there ourselves. We have settled on A & M Guest House for the name of the property. We would be happy to have you as our guests.

Why Marie Dingfelder chose Erie

There are some beautiful properties here in North East. Although our guest house is not on the beach, we think it is in a great location. We are about 3 miles out of North East and only 15 or 20 minutes from Erie. The town of North East has a lot to offer in quaint shops and popular yearly events like the North East Cherry Festival in July, the Wine Fest, Rib Fest, and others. The property is private with off road parking. The drawback is we are located near a railroad crossing. People either love or hate the trains. If you hate them and the noise from them, you may want to avoid our place.

What makes this mobile home unique

Centrally located between North East and Erie, PA. Keep in mind North East is the name of the town, not the location. We are located in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania. This property is completely remodeled inside and out. There is always lots going on in this part of the country. Every season offers something new - summer and winter sports, entertainment, shopping, located in grape country. The property is on a large lot with lots of off road parking. You can be comfortable and assured of your privacy. Kind of like a little 'home away from home'.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Alan & Marie,

Thank you very much for your hospitality and generosity. We had a wonderful visit to North East again this year. Even though the weather was kinda yucky, we still managed to be able to relax on the porch with a good bottle of wine. Still love the trains! Once again thanks for allowing my 4 legged children to come along. They had a wonderful time too! It's been a Great Vacation! We will be back next year and the year after that!

I hope you enjoy the goodies we brought you! Thank You Again!

FANTASTIC!! <3

This is the 2nd year that my husband & I visited this home, Everything was PERFECT again this year. The weather was not as cooperating as it was the year before. But the wineries were open & the house was cozy. So what else do you need for a stay in wine country! Marie & Alan are absolutely wonderful. They didn't hesitate to do whatever they could to make our stay perfect. We knew we could call them if we had any questions about the area or any concerns...but of course we had no problems at all. The pictures cant possibly give you the full picture of this home. It was super clean & full of fluffy towels & lots of warm & cozy blankets for our 5 day stay. Marie & Alan once again permitted my 2 small dogs to come along, which I cant say enough about what that means to me. I couldn't imagine my trip without them there too. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for simple meals. We personally loved the reclining loveseat, where we watched many movies & just relaxed. There are plenty of windows, which I loved especially since the weather was cold but the sun was shining (most days anyway) so we could at least view the beauty of the area from inside! The trains were very busy this year! But I absolutely love that! We would take our camp chairs & a jacket (of course) out in the large side yard with the dogs & just watch them roll by! We also enjoyed quite a few bottles of wine on the nice wooden rocker on the lovely front porch. We found a great restaurant called the Freeport, with homemade soups & they smoke their own meats, great wine choices from the local area as well as some good craft beers in bottles. There was also an access road right next to the restaurant that leads to a small beach & playground with a beautiful view of the lake. All the wineries are wonderful, but by far the Noble winery has the most AMAZING view of the grape vines as well as the lake & the train tracks run right through the middle of the two. We actually made 2 trips to this winery during our visit. On the 2nd trip, the weather was much clearer & we could actually see parts of Canada on the horizon of the lake. We also brought home 15 gallons of local grape juice from several different wineries so we can make our own wine at home. Last year we only brought back 5 gallons of Niagara juice. But it turned out so well...We went bigger & more varieties! As you can probably tell we a had a wonderful trip & I would highly highly recommend this rental.

What a great place! I was hoping for a nice place to stay that allowed my dogs and was bigger than a room at the Red Roof. What we got was a home away from home and was so comfortable that we spent most of our time inside instead of at the Lake! Thank you for having us and allowing our dogs to come with us!

Owner's Response: Dear Wendy and GT,

Thanks so much for staying with us for Memorial Day weekend. You were the perfect guests. Stella and Gooch were also clean and quiet guests. We hope to see you back next year or any time you are coming to the area. God bless.

amazing quiet getaway!

 • 5 of 5
I absolutely loved everything about this rental. My husband & I went for 2 nights but I wish we could have stayed longer! And next time we will. It was so clean & comfortable. Spacious kitchen, with everything you need to make some simple meals. Tons of blankets & quilts. The living room was large with lots of windows for natural light. The bathrooms were nice & clean with lots of towels. And even had some travel size amenities if you happen to forget anything. I loved watching & hearing the trains, I think that might have actually been my favorite part. although the train did run through the property, there is a large flat yard in between, so It did'nt even bother us at night. There is a firepit on the property also, but we never did get around to using it. Next time for sure! The property was super close to all the wineries . One was even in walking distance. The home is right across from a Vinyard & Alan said we could help ourselves to some grapes when ever we liked. They were ripe & ready during our stay so that was pretty awesome! We loved sitting on the large front porch on the glider with a glass of local wine. Alan & Marie were wonderful, they were so hospitable & were willing to do whatever they could to make our stay better. Alan helped us find a cute little roadside stand to get some fresh eggs & veggies for breakfast. They even let us bring along our 2 small dogs, which made our stay so nice. We took them on the wine trail with us & to see Lake Erie! My husband & I have been going to Erie for years now but have never had a better time than when we stayed here in North East! It was a fabulous get away from the normal hotels we used to stay at. You can really appreciate the extreme beauty that surrounds you at this home. I will never stay in a hotel again! As long as Alan & Marie will have us...We will be back next year & the year after that & the year after that! I would highly recommend this rental. Thank you Alan & Marie!

Owner's Response: Thank you Joe!! That is a great review. We're so glad you enjoyed yourself and didn't lose any sleep because of the trains. They can be bothersome for light sleepers. It's nice to hear that you weren't one of them. We look forward to have you back one day.

When can we move in?

 • 5 of 5
I looked high and low for the perfect place for my little family to have our first vacation together. It had to be special and almost gave up looking. Then, stumbling upon this website, "Oh that's the one." I have yet to wonder how my husband got me home without putting up a fight-THAT NICE. Close enough to the beach...the wineries and sunrises above the vineyard with the mist lifting made me dream I was in Tuscany, if for only a moment. We walked a hundred miles, I bet. If you live in the city or even the suburbs, you will so appreciate the peace of a comfortable front porch in the surroundings this lovely couple have created. From the comfy beds to the hardwood floors, to all of the cooking utensils and dishes...you need bring nothing. (My husband is a chef and he was impressed). I was so relaxed, loving the light, open, airy atmosphere of this cute cottage. Even the evening crickets and morning songbirds sung differently. And such decorating skills, Marie should be a consultant for a renovation magazine. We felt so much at home instantly, and I will never forget Alan and Marie. We do regret not cooking them a great dinner but the time flew so quickly and there is always next summer. And I never, ever go anywhere twice. It, is, that, nice. My daughter wrote her summer vacation report on it, but she won't say exactly where it is, it's that special to us. And it will be to you too. You two are special people, we thank you so much, for everything.

Owner's Response: Donna,
Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. This is a new venture for us and it is nice to hear that we are on the right track. You are among our most memorable guests for your friendliness and the good care you took of the place. We are happy to hear that you might return again in the future. We were so impressed with Katie. You are doing a great job raising this sweet and personable child. I think of her with a smile every time I see the Sushi-monster she made for me. Sending love and hugs to all of you from Alan and I. I hope you will keep in touch. Be blessed!

Relaxing vacation in the North East area.

 • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed for a week while on vacation. The hosts, Marie and Allen, were warm and welcoming to us. The home was very clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and nicely furnished. The central air conditioning was great on the hot days. We really enjoyed the beautiful setting surrounded by vineyards, and nearby North East is a quaint town. We would definitely stay there again if we vacationed in the area.

We so enjoyed having you stay at our guesthouse. A nicer couple could not be found. You left everything as you found it and that was much appreciated. Please remember us if you are ever in need of a place to stay in the North East area.
