Walking: Walking ( All year round)
Several walksof all standards from 1 to 6 hours, or more. Blegja, 1304m is less than 10 km away.
Skiing: Skiing (December - April)
There is downhill slope less than 30 mins drive away and others less than an hour away. There are marked cross country trails within easy reach or for the more adventurous there are several ski walks up and around the nearby fjells.
The small village of Stongfjorden has a big and interesting history. From Bronze Age rock carvings to B.A.C making an important base here in 1900s.This created many fine villas and a tennis court, Turner House being the Directors house. SunnGeoCenter holds conferences and tours of local Geology. The Grand Canyon starts here! Honsehagen Medieval Winecellar and restaurant is a unique experience,pre booking essential, sistered with Olde Hanse in Tallin. Local paintings and loom weaving crafts on sale in Turner House. Nearby, Rivedal has a statue of the founder of Iceland,Ingolf Arnarson who came from here. Visit Dale home of poet Jakob Sande. Take a ferry ride to Vaerlandet and cycle over 6 bridges out into the Atlantic to beautiful Bulandet. Drive to a Glacier in Jostedalsbreen National Park with a museum and ice walking trips.Spend time in Fjaerland Book Village. Sunnfjord Outdoor Museum in Forde is a collection of antique buildings from the area with walks and picnic areas.
