The building is a historic listed building dating to 1878 but was entirely renovated in 2007 to incorporate a lift. The apartments were also entirely modernised in 2009 incorporating new bathrooms, kitchens and air-conditioning and central heating whilst preserving all the original details: mosaic floors, moulded ceilings and doors.

The apartments are extremely popular with guests for their amenities and location. As well as being extremely central the street and surroundings are very beautiful - in a city which is already stunning. There are many restaurants and boutique shops in the vicinity.
Surroundings: Enjoy the local shops and restaurants or historic sites: the Ramblas, Boqueria market, gardens of the medieval hospital, contemporary art gallery and the gothic quarter are all within a couple of minutes walk. The central square of Barcelona - Plaça Catalunya is about a 5 minutes walk, the nearest metro station, train station and airport bus stop are all here. The street: Pintor Fortuny was built between 1870 and 1895, your building dates rom 1878. The area was the pre-design for Barcelona's main city design: the Eixample. With it's cross street Doctor Dou the two blocks were the project for the early 20th Century expansion of the city in a grid pattern. For this reason the area is of special architectural interest and the building has the top listing (after national monuments). Finished in 1878 the style of the building is the precursor to the famous modernist style of amongst others Antoní Gaudí. On the exterior and interior of the building there are many influences of nature.
Refurbishment: Being so highly listed, renovating the apartment to modern standards was a difficult process, it took 3 months to get the permits to add bathrooms, air-conditioning, double glazing, etc, then another four months to do all the work, stripping the apartment bare and then replacing everything. All the original details are conserved and modern elements are hidden. The original layout is entirely conserved as are all the ceiling mouldings and decorative floors. The doors and windows are also original or faithful copies of the originals.
The street joins the famous Ramblas so you are right in the centre, shops, restaurants and cultural attractions abound. Your nearest metro stop is Catalunya, the most central but maybe you wont use it as you can walk to most places. The nearest tourist attractions: the Boqueria market, Ramblas and Museum of Contemporary Art are literally next door. You are within the old quarter and can decide whether you wish to do culture or shopping, eat or tour the sights,
