This villa is a true home from home with two double and two triple bedrooms with three bathrooms in one of the most beautiful areas in Europe. It is fully equipped to take two families up to a maximum of 10 people in complete comfort. There has been a lot written about the Silver Coast in recent years but nothing will prepare you for the beauty of the area which remains a hidden gem compared to the over developed Spanish Costas and the Algarve. If you like to feel like you've travelled when you return from your holiday then this is the place for you, the flavour is unashamedly Portuguese.
The choice is yours active or sedate, with a plethora of places to see, activities to do and restaurants to sample you can either end up totally relaxed, exhausted or somewhere in between! One of the nicest things about the location of the villa is that children are free to explore the surrounding area in complete safety or just relax by your own private pool.
Sight seeing: Obidos, 15 min drive, is a stunning medieval walled town with lots of activities and shows on during the summer, it is great for a days mooching and has some great restaurants. Peniche, 25 min drive, is a working port with numerous fish restaurants and boat trips to the Berlingas Islands as well as a small water park. Lisbon and Sintra are well worth a visit for the culture vultures and they're both about an hours drive, Fatima is about an hours drive also.
Activities: Sailing, kite-surfing, water-skiing and windsurfing can be done on the Lagoon which is a 2 minute walk away, a quick call to the Nadaduro sailing club and they will pick you up by boat to take you to the club on the other side of the lagoon, all equipment can be hired through them.
Mountain bikes can be hired at Praia Del Rey or by the Lagoon which has a cycle track all the way around.
Surfing is best done at Baleal, again all tuition and equipment can be hired there.
The safest bathing in the sea is at Rio Cortico beach which has a lifeguard and is a 2 minute drive. The Lagoon is very safe at all times and there is a lifeguard and beach cafe at Bom Successo.
The villa is approx 1 mile from the Atlantic ocean which means the evenings are cool making it easy to sleep hence no need for air-conditioning. The days get hot but not too hot so the active types can still function. The villa has central heating and an open fire for those of you looking to book in the winter months. Children are well catered for with DVDs beach equipment and of course the pool. There is also an inflatable dinghy/windsurfer in the utility room which can give you hours of fun on the lagoon. There are no currents or tides in the lagoon so its completely safe, just watch out for sea urchins, wetsuit shoes are recommended. The boogie boards are for those who brave Baleal beach which is a 20 min drive away but well worth it. The nearest sea swimming is at Rio Cortico which is a 3 min drive away with a beautiful fish restaurant on the beach. There are lifeguards there during the summer. There are also two of the best golf courses in Portugal on your doorstep.
Golf: There are two golf courses nearby, Bom Successo is about a 5 min drive and Praia Del Rei is a 15 min drive. I'm a golfer and the reputation of Praia Del Rei is well documented, it consistently falls in the top 3 golf courses in Portugal. I've walked around Bom Successo and I can vouch for the championship status of the course, some of the holes are breathtaking in their complexity and gradient with views of the Atlantic ocean and the lagoon on many of them, an internet search will give you all the information you need.
