Lenno is a pretty village just south of Tremezzo and has a charming harbour, interesting historical centre and weekly market. The impressive Villa Balbianello is also nearby.
Lenno is a small pleasant town in a good location and only 10 minutes southwest of Menaggio, from where you can take the car ferry over to Bellagio & Varenna. The town of Lenno dates back to Roman times. The baptistry in the village square is from the eleventh century and the crypt of the church dates from the twelveth century.
For exploring Lake Como the peaceful little town of Lenno is an excellent choice as, having its own ferry point, it makes getting around by boat an easy and pleasurable experience. It is situated between the probably better known lakeside towns of Moltrasio and Tremezzo.
Lenno has a Tuesday market stretching along the promenade which sells a wide range of products including fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, cheeses and meats, clothes, shoes and many more. Close by are some good shops and restaurants with everything you need to enjoy your stay, there is also a beach (which is stoney but popular with holiday makers and locals)
The neighbouring villages of Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta), Cadenabbia, Menaggio, Bellagio are situated a few kms away. There is a weekly market in Mezzegra (Friday) and Lenno (Tuesday). The fishers of the village offer you daily fresh fish. In Mezzegra town, you will find supermarkets, the post office, bars, coffeehouses, the baker (which if you wish delivers fresh rolls to the house), can be reached in just a few minutes by foot.
Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries. It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations. All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.

Guestbook comments from the manager
Villa Laruis in Lenno was a delight for all the family, the size of the Villa for ten people including two children was wonderful, just like the "Tardis"
So much space inside that we could lose one another. The grounds were a delight to wander and the size of the swimming pool was more than adequate!
The walk down to the supermarket in the morning, just as it opened, to get fresh bread was a lovely walk through little lanes and lovely Villas.Good for the legs on the way back up the hill. Lenno has two great supermarkets and a lovely Cake shop and a great market on a Tuesday Morning
Lenno is also a good jumping off point for the ferries to other interesting towns. The Villa Del Balbianello is a must, it would interest older children rather than younger
My grandchildren are seven and four and just loved the swimming pool which was ideal for them under supervision!
