WALK TO MOVIES & SHOPPING, 1.3 MILES TO OLD TOWN PASADENA!

The scent from the blooming jasmine welcomed me as I walked through the gate to The Sycamore, one of four bungalows that surround a courtyard shaded by a huge sycamore tree. The unit itself is true to the online pictures. It was clean with ample kitchen supplies, towels and bedding. I especially appreciated having a washer and dryer. It's location just north of the 210 makes it convenient to get to Old Town Pasadena with all of its shopping, sightseeing and restaurants. Having your own off street parking spot makes coming home at night easy--no need to hunt for an available spot on the street or lot/ramp. The owner was helpful and responded to my questions quickly. I would certainly recommend this property.

Whenever I travel, I tend to book units like these as opposed to hotels because I believe that you get so much more for your money and this place was no exception. It was quiet and very clean. The location was great in that I'd drive only 1-2 miles to pick up dinner from one of the many restaurants in the area. And lastly, maybe most importantly, everything was where it was supposed to be and everything worked. I absolutely cannot stand when I stay at places and nothing is where it is supposed to be or things like the wireless connection don't work but that was not the case here. Everything was very straight forward and it made my stay all the more pleasant.

I stayed at the Sycamore (and then across the hall at the Deodora) during an unexpected extended househunt. This was just the right place to stay. I often vacation with VRBO, bringing my dog along, and this place hands down had everything one would need (we had started traveling with a bag of items like olive oil and tin foil at other places that weren't fully stocked. This place is stocked!). Lots of thoughtful touches. The photos are accurate; it's very clean and well-maintained. Old school Hollywood bungalow style building, with amazing sound insulation up against the year-round tenants (thick walls are very rare in LA).

I had needed to extend my stay more than once, and Helena was very easy to reach and very helpful with communication and accommodating my needs. Definitely a class act. When I have visitors in town, I would recommend this rental.

Things to be aware of: I didn't care to walk my dog in the neighborhood due to aggressive dogs. A few blocks away was fine, a historical district, and this location is so convenient (accurate on the map) to anything you would want to do, I still highly recommend. The neighbors in next door building could be loud, but if you are out exploring LA, it shouldn't be disruptive. It is off of a fairly busy street.

In the area, I suggest Le Pain Quotidien for amazing coffee and croissants (they are a full restaurant as well), the Arclight movie theatre (assigned seats! and no commercials. This is the only way to see movies in LA), Bird Pick Tea, and in the summer, free outdoor concerts at Levitt Pavilion. When in LA, be sure to go to Griffith Observatory for the best view and feel of the city. Happy travels!
