This charming in-town, three bedroom, two bath, historic home located in the Historic Town District near the Old Mill features a bright and modern open floor plan. Located on a very quiet and private lane a half-mile from the center of town, the home was purchased by the current owners in 2012 and has been completely refurnished and updated throughout for your comfort. Includes two off-street parking spaces, (tough to find in Nantucket!)
A relaxed 7 minute walk takes you into Town/Main Street, (literally minutes by bike). The location could not be better - the cottage is close to everything: town, beach, supermarket, bakery, restaurants, ATM, package store, bikepath: (The bike path to Surfside Beach (2 miles) is at the end of street). Francis Street Beach is .5 mile away.
Pretty gardens and lush flower-boxes surround the house and well-maintained property. The main patio includes a teak patio set (table w. 6 chairs/umbrella) and a large propane grill for your use.
The upstairs Master bedroom, with a connecting ensuite bath, offers graceful living with a new Queen-size 4-poster canopy bed (new mattress in 2013), ceiling fan, air conditioner, multiple closets and his-and-hers matching night tables with drawers. The Master bedroom also includes a generously-sized lady's dressing table and makeup mirror.
A second upstairs bedroom features two twin beds (with new mattresses in 2013). The 2 twins can be pushed together as a king. All linens, towels, sheets and pillows throughout the house are high quality, new in 2013.
The downstairs Queen bed with connecting bath features a walk-out to a small private patio area - perfect for enjoying a private first morning cup of coffee or tea.
The brand new, large capacity washer/dryer stack is hidden away in a closet in this bedroom. The room also features AC and a ceiling fan.
New Hunter-Douglas plantation shutters have been installed throughout the downstairs living areas adding to the serenity and privacy of the house.
The roomy dining room, steps from the kitchen, features two new gate-leg tables (42 in. and 60 in.) Depending upon your needs for dining room seating, our staff will set up the smaller table to seat 4, or the larger table to seat 6 or more: roomy comfort for all in either option.
The country kitchen is simple but fully equipped with a Kuereg, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, etc. A new gas cooktop/oven was installed in 2013.
The living room features a very bright, open floor plan with abundant and new seating - cozily comfortable and luxuriously furnished.
All bedrooms rooms have in-room A/C, as does the living room and dining room. For those occasional cool nights, the living room's thermostatically-controlled radiant floor heat is a luxury treat for cool toes!

Studio Guest Cottage details: separate and adjacent building with bath (shower/toilet/sink), sleeping loft with twin mattress sleeps 1 person. Downstairs sofa bed can sleep another guest or two. Air conditioned. Post & Beam construction with high beamed ceilings, gas fireplace. Small kitchenette with microwave, coffeemaker and refrigerator. Stylishly furnished.
We honeymooned in Nantucket in 1983 and have returned every year since, until finally realizing our dream of owning a Nantucket home. We spend off-season here, entertaining often, and love our time here.

Wayne: When i first saw the house, I fell in love with it, we have been working to make it even better. It is a combination of historic Nantucket cottage upgraded to a high standard of luxurious coastal living. Located on a very quiet lane close to Town, with all the modern amenities one would expect: it is close to beaches, supermarket, restaurants, bank, package store - even a great bakery - perfectly located, really. The house and in-town location offers everything you could want in a Nantucket home. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
As nice as the house was when we purchased it, we felt it needed an major upgrade. Our guests seem to really appreciate the comfort and decor the house now offers, as well as the thoughtful care that has gone into decorating and furnishing it.
As our second home, we want it to be just as comfortable and beautiful as our primary home is for us - and for you! It's a win-win situation for all.
We spent last year upgrading the house - everything from beds to furnishings to furniture, sheets, towels, pillows, even air conditioners, ceiling fans were added. Now (Fall 2013), we are installing a new roof, and are planning on adding additional upgrades.
Because of the investments made in improving the quality of the surroundings and furnishings, we prefer to limit rental of the house to discriminating adults with children over 16, but we are open to having this discussion, if you believe there is reason for exemption to the policy.
For cooler summer nights, the thermostatically-controlled radiant floor heat in the living room offers a luxurious gentle warmth.
