Being from the Northeast, where the beaches are cold and rocky and the ocean is filled with seaweed, this is an ideal place for an unforgettable family beach retreat. Folly Beach is located on a barrier island with a classic small beach village and is only 20 minutes from historic downtown Charleston. It is a "no-pressure" village with quaint surf shops and lively restraurants. And, for lighthouse lovers, at the far north end of the island is a great view of the Morris Island Light House. Folly is a great choice for good food, good drinks, amazing beach and close proximity to unlimited history!
The interior of this cottage looks great online and is just as good in person.Plenty of space, very clean, gorgeous floors and a graceous kitchen/dining/living area. The house is well equipped with all the modern comforts of home. It is low maintenance and easy to adjust to. All the controls are simple - from the kitchen appliances to the TV's to the showers.
This is a true oceanfront property. There is nothing quite as relaxing as sitting on the deck, watching the ebb and flow of the ocean, smelling the salt air and allow the crashing of the waves to soothe your nerves. From the cottage, you can step down from front porch and walk right out onto the beach. The beach is wide and abundant in sand - great for walking, jogging, frisbee, beach volleyball or sunbathing. It is just a short walk down the beach to the Folly Beach pier where you can find bait and tackle for fishing in the deep water or beach bike rentals. There are also surfboard and paddleboard or kayak rentals for the waterbound.
Overall, this is a fantastic vacation home in a very pleasant location. We will definately return year after year so we can watch our children grow up ON THE BEACH!!
