The cabin is located on one of North Carolina's primier trout streams and the owner routinely stocks the water in addition to the state stocking program. Located on a dead end with only three other cabins on the 6 plus acres this is an ideal seculded get away yet only 300 yards back to a paved state road. The property has open grass areas for games and biking riding on the local gravel roads with little traffic. An outdoor fireplace with wood provided is a great gathering place down by the creek. Local canoe outfitters can provide services for canoeing or tubing the New River. The historic town of West Jefferson is located just 10 minutes away with all the necessary services, grocery stores, restaurants and liquor store. For those who want a break from the pease and quiet the townes of Boone and Blowing Rock are 45 mintures away on good roads. These locations provide great outlet shopping, snow skiing, and dinning options. To the north one will find Grayson Highlands National Park with great hiking options and the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail, one of the highlights of the ares.

I could not have asked for a more perfect setting for our family to spend quality time together. The property manager and his wife went above and beyond to ensure that we felt welcomed and that our stay was enjoyable. My husband and oldest son enjoyed the fishing while my younger son had a blast playing in the creek. The water was ideal - not too deep or swift for children to enjoy. The cabin was very clean and well-equipped. The setting was absolutely ideal. We are hoping to plan a return visit this year. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your little piece of Heaven.

A Beautiful Setting

The best thing that we can do to recommend this property is to say we have stayed twice in the last 2 months and have already booked 2 more trips before the end of summer!
The dogs were welcome, and we were able to take long walks on quiet country roads nearby, relax in chairs by the river and on the front porch, and cook yummy meals in the well stocked kitchen.
The cabin is spic and span clean, and all our needs were met when we walked in the door with extra special touches like a bouquet of wild flowers added by the most excellent caretakers- Dayle and Linda.

We look forward to coming back as many times as we can.

Perfect Mountain Setting

This was our first trip to the mountains during the winter season. What a perfect getaway! David, cabin owner, made us feel right at home. Our cabin was stocked with everything we needed including firewood to enjoy in the fireplace. We enjoyed the weekend by sledding on the property, trout fishing in the stream in front of the cabin and snow tubing at Hawksnest. Wished we had more time to do some hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We would definitely recommended this cabin!!!! Looking forward to planning our next trip real soon!!

Weekend in the mountains

My girlfriend and I stayed the weekend and this cabin and had a blast. We contacted the owner on short notice and he still was able to let us stay. The housekeeper is a very nice man and the cabin is literally within throwing distance from the New River. You can sit out on the porch and listen to the river at night or hang out by the fire place. We had a lot of fun and will definitely be staying there again soon if we have the chance!

Weekend in the mountains

My girlfriend and I stayed at this cabin for the weekend and had a wonderful time. I contacted David on very short notice and he answered quickly and let us stay for a reasonable price. The housekeeper is a really nice man and the cabin is very well decorated. It's literally right on the shore line of the New River and you can sit on your porch at night and listen to it. We will definitely be coming back soon if we have the opportunity!
