Excellent 3/4 bed farmhouse set in beautiful parkland

Le Val du Goth is situated in extensive parkland within 90 hectares of woodland. From the terrace there are lovely views over to the swimming pool and across to the fishing lake and countryside beyond. This is a really beautiful place to spend your holiday, relax by the pool, stroll down to the lake for some fishing or let the kids explore the park and woodland, they might find wild boar, fox, deer, buzzards etc.

The quality of interior decoration and furnishings is excellent and the property offers a very high standard of accommodation, equally comfortable in both low and high seasons with the provision of full central heating and large open fireplaces.

The owners, M & Mme Pez, live in the adjoining barn but we should stress that whilst they will be 'on the spot' for any queries they fully respect the privacy that their visitors require. They have a small terrace at the back of their property and the grounds, pool and fishing lake are for visitors' exclusive use.

Outside: There is a paved terrace to the front and side of the farmhouse with garden tables, chairs and parasol and barbecue. There is a detached playroom located by the terrace, also table tennis and a children's swing.

Swimming Pool - a 12m x 6m, 2.20m deep, pool with diving board, surrounded by a terrace with 4 sunbeds, is situated just below the house and is fitted with safety alarms.

Fishing lake - do bring some rods if you would like to use the lake. Typical fish in the lake: carp 2kg+, pike 2kg, zander 2kg, perch 1/2kg, small roach and tench.

How to get there: By Car: Le Val du Goth is an easy drive down the motorways from the channel ports

By plane: With the excellent flights offered by Ryanair and Flybe to Limoges from airports all across the UK why not consider a short break to Le Val du Goth. Your arrival and departure dates/times can be flexible (out of high season) so check the flights and come for a bargain break.

Limoges is our nearest airport (40 mins). Ryanair fly here from: Stansted, Bournemouth , Bristol , East Midlands, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Luton. Flybe to Limoges from: Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton. Also within easy drives are the airports Bergerac, or slightly further Bordeaux and Poitiers.

By train: Excellent train links - Angouleme to Lille or Paris for connections on Eurostar to St Pancras, or Limoges to Paris/St Pancras.

Listen to the Silence!!

We had a wonderful week in Le Val du Goth. The beautiful old property far exceeded our expectations and provided every requirement for a thoroughly relaxing holiday. The house was full of character, extremely well equipped and very clean on arrival. If you want peace & quiet in rural France this is the perfect place for you. We could almost touch the peaceful silence. The swimming pool is large and maintained to a high standard. Although the depth is quoted as 2.2m, this is true of the end with the diving board; the other end is more like 1.25m, so an adult can easily stand. The gardens and woodland are extensive and include, of course, the fishing lake. The lake fished well during our stay yielding 18 carp to 10lb and numerous roach to half a pound with many missed bites - great fun. The local people are very friendly. The owners, who live next door, and are both unobtrusive and charming.

A lovely place for a restful holiday

We had a fabulous fortnight at the Val du Goth. The swimming pool, lake and grounds are all stunning and very well looked after by the owner. We really liked the table tennis and the comfortable places to sit in both sun and shade. When we first arrived the weather was cool and so the house at first felt cold and dark - but that became quite welcome as the temperature rose. The house is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. We took my mother (who is in her 80s and with mobility difficulties) and she managed very well in the HUGE ground floor bedroom.

M and Mme Pez are on hand if you need them, but very unobtrusive and you don't feel constrained by the owners being next door. There are interesting places nearby to visit and we particularly enjoyed the local markets. The rural location means that it is peaceful and calming, but you do need a car for everything, including all the shopping - there are no shops at all close by. If you want a tranquil location , this is the place for you.

We would certainly consider going back for another holiday to this beautiful place.

Le Val du Goth is situated in the tiny hamlet of Le Vansanaud just a few minutes drive from the villages of Marval (bakery/bar/restaurant) and La Chapelle Montbrandeix (restaurant/bar). On the borders of Dordogne and Haute Vienne in the Perigord Limousin National Park - an unspoilt region of rolling wooded countryside interspersed with numerous rivers and leisure lakes. Local shopping is at Cussac and St Mathieu with the larger centres of Limoges, Angouleme and Perigueux all within an hours drive. Lively markets are held each week at nearby Piegut and Nontron, and there is an excellent choice of local restaurants to suit every budget. - 'Chez Jules' just 5 mins away and 'Hostellerie St Jacques', a gourmet's feast to rival any top London restaurant, a 15 minute drive. The beautiful town of Brantome, the little Venice of France, is a 30 min drive and after exploring the market here you can hire a canoe for a trip down the River Dronne.
