South Carolina family who have enjoyed this lake for years and who love the outdoors including water sports. Family moved to South Carolina mountains because of the beauty and for the distinct four seasons, and of course, the southern hospitality and way of life.
I.A. Shehan and L.E. Feemster purchased this house in 2013
Property purchased because it had the greatest amount of positives that we were looking for, such as large natural wooded but sunny lot, almost glass walls on all levels for lake viewing, real deep water at dock to accommodate a sailboat, location, gentle slope to lake in rear without strings of steps, and quality of construction. The location in the State of SC is the ultimate BEST. It is GOOD for the SOUL.
Deep Water at Dock -Located at large mouth of cove opening right into the big water -50 feet of water in the wide large cove, sandbar to 'noodle' or paddle to, large 50-80 year old hardwood trees trimmed upward, concrete drive and concrete path to dock connected, Very high quality windows with full glass of European crank out style, and a screened-in porch. There is a VERY gentle slope to Boat Dock, easy for any age group to traverse. There are NO STRINGERS of STEPS to DOCK! The Shoreline is ALMOST 200 feet wide.
Thank you very much. Your home is the best we ever stayed in. We never went down to enjoy your game room, we were too busy with "Clemson". Your check out check list sure made things easy! Thank you very much!
I must admit I thought the other reviews were too good to be true, but that was not the case. We loved our stay at this house. There was 11 of us and the house was big enough to accommodate us all...but I must admit we spent most of our time out on the porches and the dock. It was so peaceful and relaxing and it allowed us, 2 grandmas and aunt and uncle and our kids (16, 18, 19, and 21) to reconnect and build memories to last a lifetime.
The kids loved kayaking around the small island. Floating in tubes and hanging out by the fire pit.
After our arrival, Lori called to check on us and ask if we had any questions or needed anything. That was unexpected, but appreciated.
We rented this house to stay in while attending our son's graduation from Clemson. It was an easy ride to campus. Shopping was close. The house was stocked with more items than we could ever use or need. We recommend this property for anyone wanting to disconnect from a busy life. You can't help but relax when you get a look at that peaceful lake!
Our only concern was with recycling...we weren't sure about recycling cans, bottles, boxes, etc as all trash went into bags in bins before we left. You did an incredible job spelling out all other details of the departure. A little more direction for recycling would have given me a little less angst.
We know several families with kids attending Clemson and we will definitely recommend this house as an option to hotel staying.
Our family loved our weekend at Gilhooley's. Fantastic lake home, deep water and the best furnished home we have ever rented. Very clean and plenty of room for everyone. Lots for the kids and adults to enjoy. Swimming off the dock, canoes, kayaks, and fire pit by the water. We highly recommend this property and will definetly return
We enjoyed the peaceful and ever-changing views from the porch and dock of this super nice lake home! The fall colors reflecting in the green waters of Lake Keowee made for lots of photographic opportunities! Truly, a nice get-a-way!
We rented the house for the weekend. My husband and I invited both our children and grandchildren. It was nice because we each had separate floors and lots of privacy. The kids put on life jackets and jumped off the dock. They used the canoe and kayaks. It was very relaxing. The house was very clean and well stocked. We would use the house again!
We walked in and realized what a fabulous rental home this was! The owners thought of everything to make our stay perfect! They made us feel like we were in our own home! Everything was clean and well stocked! The view of Lake Keowee from the porch was spectacular. We brought our own kayak because my husband is an avid kayaker, but there were kayaks for our friends to borrow as well! We are so excited that we were smart enough to book this house another 2 times in the next few months! We are so looking forward to going back! The drive to watch our beloved Clemson Tigers was an easy one! Thanks so much for allowing us to stay in your home!
We rented this wonderful house for three days with my brother and sister-in-law. We were bringing my daughter and niece back to Clemson for the upcoming school year. Renting the lake house gave us a chance to unwind and enjoy the area before they both started fall classes. The house was wonderful, equipped with everything we needed, it was clean with nice decor and comfortable beds. What really set this house apart, though, was that it sat right on Lake Keowee and the dock was just steps from the house. We made use of the dock everyday to lounge, go swimming or to launch the kayaks and canoe, which came with the rental. It was awesome. Such a beautiful area with terrific water views. The screened in porch was the ideal spot to enjoy the beautiful sunrise while savoring my morning coffee. The house is a reasonable distance from the Clemson campus and the owner's were very nice to interact with. My family and I enjoyed our stay very much and are considering staying again in the future.
