About I.A. Shehan and L.E. Feemster

South Carolina family who have enjoyed this lake for years and who love the outdoors including water sports. Family moved to South Carolina mountains because of the beauty and for the distinct four seasons, and of course, the southern hospitality and way of life.

I.A. Shehan and L.E. Feemster purchased this house in 2013

Why I.A. Shehan and L.E. Feemster chose Seneca

Property purchased because it had the greatest amount of positives that we were looking for, such as large natural wooded but sunny lot, almost glass walls on all levels for lake viewing, real deep water at dock to accommodate a sailboat, location, gentle slope to lake in rear without strings of steps, and quality of construction. The location in the State of SC is the ultimate BEST. It is GOOD for the SOUL.

What makes this house unique

Deep Water at Dock -Located at large mouth of cove opening right into the big water -50 feet of water in the wide large cove, sandbar to 'noodle' or paddle to, large 50-80 year old hardwood trees trimmed upward, concrete drive and concrete path to dock connected, Very high quality windows with full glass of European crank out style, and a screened-in porch. There is a VERY gentle slope to Boat Dock, easy for any age group to traverse. There are NO STRINGERS of STEPS to DOCK! The Shoreline is ALMOST 200 feet wide.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you very much. Your home is the best we ever stayed in. We never went down to enjoy your game room, we were too busy with "Clemson". Your check out check list sure made things easy! Thank you very much!

Peasceful Views so Relaxing at Gilhooley's Get-a Way!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the peaceful and ever-changing views from the porch and dock of this super nice lake home! The fall colors reflecting in the green waters of Lake Keowee made for lots of photographic opportunities! Truly, a nice get-a-way!

Owner's Response: Enjoyed our conversations so much. We are very happy that you had such a wonderful time with your son and got to spend those special hours with him. Thank you for your comments. Hope we can dovetail our times during your next visit to the school when we are on assignment, away from our home. Thank you also for taking such great care of our home. Best to you and your family.

Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for the weekend. My husband and I invited both our children and grandchildren. It was nice because we each had separate floors and lots of privacy. The kids put on life jackets and jumped off the dock. They used the canoe and kayaks. It was very relaxing. The house was very clean and well stocked. We would use the house again!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you had such a lovely time. Family time is what counts. The children all love jumping in at the dock and it is so nice to have such deep deep water. I especially love the dock ladder!

We walked in and realized what a fabulous rental home this was! The owners thought of everything to make our stay perfect! They made us feel like we were in our own home! Everything was clean and well stocked! The view of Lake Keowee from the porch was spectacular. We brought our own kayak because my husband is an avid kayaker, but there were kayaks for our friends to borrow as well! We are so excited that we were smart enough to book this house another 2 times in the next few months! We are so looking forward to going back! The drive to watch our beloved Clemson Tigers was an easy one! Thanks so much for allowing us to stay in your home!

Return to College

We rented this wonderful house for three days with my brother and sister-in-law. We were bringing my daughter and niece back to Clemson for the upcoming school year. Renting the lake house gave us a chance to unwind and enjoy the area before they both started fall classes. The house was wonderful, equipped with everything we needed, it was clean with nice decor and comfortable beds. What really set this house apart, though, was that it sat right on Lake Keowee and the dock was just steps from the house. We made use of the dock everyday to lounge, go swimming or to launch the kayaks and canoe, which came with the rental. It was awesome. Such a beautiful area with terrific water views. The screened in porch was the ideal spot to enjoy the beautiful sunrise while savoring my morning coffee. The house is a reasonable distance from the Clemson campus and the owner's were very nice to interact with. My family and I enjoyed our stay very much and are considering staying again in the future.

Owner's Response: Oh my goodness, what a lovely review. All of the elements you broke out and described seems as if we wrote it. Those are all the high points that we love as well as the deep water at the dock!! Thank you so much for sharing our home with us. We certainly appreciate the way you left our home, by putting everything back like you found it when you arrived. You have no idea how that helps the housekeepers do their job! The swimming off the dock is my favorite thing and the screened in porch. It still amazes me how I can count my toes every time I get in that beautiful clear water. Thanks again for such a lovely descriptive evaluation.

This property was everything that the information said it would be. The house was stocked with everything we could possibly need and was very clean and organized. The view of the lake was terrific.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this lovely review. It was so good to talk to you while you were a guest in our lake home. So glad you and your family/friends loved all the "toys" we share with our guests, when we are away from home. As you know, we came home from traveling the day you left, so we did not get to meet in person; however we feel like we know you. You left the home in the same condition you received it in and that was so much appreciated. Thank you so very much. You have been one of the two TOP GUESTS we have shared our home with. So glad you loved the home and lake so much; your comments meant so much to us. We WELCOME you back.

Everything you need for a lake vacation

  • 4 of 5

Our family loves Lake Keowee and this VRBO was a great place to enjoy it. They have everything needed to enjoy time in, on and around the water. House is fully equipped and beds are super comfy. Fully stocked kitchen means we didn't need to bring our own waffle iron after all. One complaint: the to-do list for cheeck out/return of deposit was crazy excessive. We've done many VRBOs and never had to spend our last day working. For that reason we may choose another spot next time.

Owner's Response: I am so very happy that you had such a lovely vacation. Lake Keowee is our favorite spot as well; that is why we live there. When work calls us away, we are happy to share our home with others who appreciate the area. I would like to address your disappointment w/ the Departure Guide. We have had several versions of this, to try & cover the basics, have listened to comments of everyone, & the majority of guests we have had, appreciate the detail we have added in the Guide (includes rationales). Basically, it boils down to three main requested tasks areas: 1)Replacement of items as they were when you arrived, 2)Empty all trash containers inside & outside of home/load dishwasher/turn on, & 3) Only strip beds used of sheets & pillow cases /put on a load of sheets while packing your things. For years we also have vacationed on Lake Keowee and in all homes we rented we were expected to do all 3 categories before leaving. The only difference was, #1 was not spelled out, as to what exactly what they meant. Because of so many different questions and actions, we decided to write them down for all. That made up the list that you are referring to. Another aspect to consider is the multitude of Lake Toys & Supplies/Items we share w/ our guests. The majority of families LOVE this. Bottom line is, if you use the items there for your fun or to make food prep for your group vacation easier, all we ask is that you replace items back to where you got them from. An example would be: if you use the knee board, water skis, ski ropes, tubes, life jackets, canoes & kayaks/ paddles, Play Station 3, pool balls etc, those items need to be returned to where you got them from. If those things are left on the dock or unsecured, they can float off or the wind can take them away. Similarly, if you use the electric ice cream churn or Roaster Oven, just replace it in garage where you obtained it from. Most people do that anyway, but we had so many requests to include specifics, that we did. Looking at the big picture, when it is time for the housekeeping staff to enter & make ready for other guests, they can go straight to cleaning the entire home, while doing laundry, putting fresh linens out & on beds, cleaning floors, carpet, bathrooms, kitchen, refrigerators, screened in porch, glass, dusting, leaf blowing around property, checking on supplies such as trash bags, coffee start-up items, dishwasher detergent, shower supplies, accounting for items, etc Thanks for the feedback.
