Nestled in the Green Mountains, the Lewis House dates back to the founding of Vermont and is the quaint town of Wardsboro, close to Rte 100, the most scenic in the state. In winter, Wardsboro provides excellent skiing within 20-25 minutes at world-class resorts of Mt. Snow & Stratton Mt. and local inns to dine well. The roads are plowed and access is maintained. For the summer, we are close to many local lakes and the hikes of the Long Trail, golf and tennis, biking, the Alpine Slide and Outdoor Park at Bromley Mt. as well as antiquing in small Vt towns and glorious walks. Jamaica State Park, less than 5 miles away, has biking and hiking trails as do other nearby state parks, lakes and reservoirs. In the fall, the foliage season supplies superb vistas and the changing colors are magnificent. Hiking, biking and and shopping ( at the outlets of Manchester Center) are musts. There are historical sights within driving range, including Quechee Gorge and the Billings Farm in Woodstock. Superb dining at The Four Columns Inn in New Fane, The Wyndham Inn in West Townshend and the Three Mt. Inn in Jamaica are but a few of the local options.
The town of Wardsboro, a one street town, has an excellent market with fresh meats and fish and home prepared foods, fresh bread and the New York Times. It has an ATM machine and gas station and provides incredible services a few hundred feet from your doorstep. The library of the town is well stocked also with DVDs and provides internet access as does out house. The town's playground allows all ages to enjoy the outdoors, from toddlers to basketball players to skate-boarders. It is a very small town, but it provides modern amenities. We are easily reachable from Boston or Connecticut via interstates and Route 100.
