Idyllic Retreat on the Edge of Uvita

I spent a week at this charming, new cottage with my partner in the beautiful town of Bahía de Ballena just of the Costañera Hwy. Massi, the owner, was very helpful in accommodating my late arrival and addressed my concerns in a timely manner.
The cottage itself is a humble size, but beautifully appointed - not that many travelers visit CR to hang around their lodging. The bed is comfortable, the shower offers hot water should you want it (if you’ve visited Costa Rica before, you know that’s not a guarantee at most rentals), and the cottage is well ventilated with optional air conditioning.
For the sake of context, my partner and I are in our mid-to-late twenties and from New York State, and would strongly recommend this location for 1-2 people for a romantic retreat. We enjoyed our week and found plenty to do (with a car), loved being able to walk to the stunning National Park, nearby stores, and activities. The location is great because you are close to everything you want during the daytime, but have plenty of peace & quiet after dark - even on New Year’s Eve. There is yoga, surfing, numerous beaches, restaurants (though the outstanding restaurants are in neighboring Ojochal), and ample hiking convenient to Ocean Melody. I can’t wait to go back!
