Porto Colom:
Porto Colom is treasured by seafarers as a natural place to drop anchor and has preserved a lot of the original sea-facing architecture, giving it a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The old town with its 19th century charm serves as a home from home for many residents of Felanitx and especially during the summer months. The newer section of the town offers various different leisure facilities. Two sandy coves and a beach are located here, with both diving and surf schools. Another interesting feature is the local boat building industry made up of small family-run operations that build boats according to traditional methods.
Cala D'Or:
The centre of Cala D'Or (the white town by the sea) offers you the most comprehensive range of leisure activities on the east coast. Restaurants, shops, bars and boutiques make up some of the wide palette of possibilities. It also has possibly the best private harbor in Majorca. Every year the elite of the European luxury yachts berth there. The Vall D'Or golf course, one of the best golf courses in Majorca with it's newly renovated clubhouse and views over the Cala D'Or and the bay of Porto Colom, is located ten kilometers away. Regular golf lessons for beginners and advanced alike are offered here in German, English and Spanish. This fine location is worth a visit even for non-golfers.
Manacor:
Manacor is regarded as the second most important town in Majorca. Known for its furniture industry and artificial pearl production, Manacor lies at the spur of the “Sierra Levant” and was founded in the year 1300 by Jaume II. The most important sights are the “Torre de ses Puntes” from the 14th century, the Dominican monastery “Sant Vincenc Ferrer” and the baroque monastery of “Santo Domingo”. The chalky soil of the area has facilitated the hollowing out of a number of caves in the nearby area. The town of Manacor itself has supermarkets, a clinic, restaurants, cafés, a multitude of shops and a charming pedestrian area for shopping and strolling.
