Looking for a little R&R with a laid back atmosphere? Then look no further! Big Pine and the Lower Keys have a wide variety of things for you to do and see. This home is an oasis just minutes away from Atlantic and Gulf waters where world class fishing and relaxation await. We offer you all the comforts of home...minus the traffic and anxiety of city life.
The three bedroom, two bath fully furnished house can comfortably sleep six. The master has a queen size bed, walk-in closet, and bath. The other two rooms come with two single beds in each. The porch is perfect for coffee at sunrise or an adult beverage while enjoying beautiful sunset views. The adjacent lot can easily accomodate an RV or boat trailer. Key deer are a daily sighting on the property.
World Class Inshore and Offshore fishing await you. Inshore, the flats and bridges offer some of the best permit and tarpon fishing you can find anywhere. The outer reefs hold snapper, grouper and yellowtail in abundance. Offshore, you will find dolphin, tuna, marlin, swordfish, and other gamefish.
If snorkeling/scuba diving is your passion, just a short boat ride offshore will put you on one of the very few living reefs in the United States, Looe Key. Numerous local dive shops run excursions here daily.
Bahia Honda State Park, the National Key Deer Refuge, the Great White Heron Refuge, and the Blue Hole are all nearby attractions that offer activities such as hiking, bicycling, kayaking, and birding. Bahia Honda State Park’s beach is continually ranked among the best in the U.S.
If shopping, dining, and people watching appeal to you, then a short drive to Key West is in order. The sunset along Mallory Square is a must. Just 30 miles away from Big Pine Key, fun awaits.
My husband and I were fortunate enough to select this home to rent for January 2014. We have rented for the last three years in January and this home was the most well equipped home we have rented. The owner was a joy to work with and he did his best to meet all our needs. The home was clean and had every amenity we needed. I would definitely recommend staying in this home!
We are family of 5 with teen and 22 year olds. This was an ideal location in the keys -- near Bahia Honda and other natural places such as the Key Deer reserve that surrounds it -- as well as convenient to Key West. The house is very comfortable, quiet, convenient and well-equipped. The owner, Andy, couldn't be nicer and was very helpful in suggesting places to visit. Big Pine Key was a good choice -- relatively unspoiled but big enough to have a supermarket and other conveniences. The Strike Zone charter company there offers a snorkling and fishing excursion that is a good family-oreiented intro to the history of the keys, ending with a picnic supper on the boat. We hope to return again to Big Pine and would not hesitate to rent this place again.
