Villa Koumos sits in a peaceful location above the village of Gavalochori, which gives it commanding views across the roof tops that not only include beautiful sea views but also spectacular vistas of the impressive 'White Mountains'.
The villa has been well-designed to ensure that nearly all rooms in the house benefit from these exceptional views. The spacious open plan kitchen/dining/living area has the prime spot at the top of the house from where a large terrace is accessed, perfect for enjoying alfresco dining, and, of course, the stunning views. The kitchen is well-equipped and the living room has comfortable seating. The three bedrooms, one double with an en-suite
bathroom and two twins with a shared bathroom are situated on a lower level; again all have balconies, that enjoy the marvellous views. The attractive pool, where the views continue,l is situated just below the below the bedroom level, accessed by a few steps from the bedroom balconies.
The villa has a very peaceful location but also an exceptionally convenient one as the centre of the village can be accessed in no more than 10 minutes on foot. The three tavernas in the village are excellent, offering fantastic local cuisine, (at very reasonable prices), and the local bakery will entice you every morning for fresh bread and tasty pastries.
Villa Koumos sits just above the pretty and traditional village of Gavalohori, which is just one of many beautiful rural villages situated in the very spectacular Apokoronos region of Western Crete. It is a region that offers natural beauty, history, picturesque villages, friendly beaches, rural tracks, coastal paths, mountain plateaus, Byzantine churches, Venetian harbours, Roman, Hellenistic and Minoan remains. It also offers plenty for a family holiday with a choice of beaches, a popular water park, some water sports and boat trips all very accessible.
Gavalochori, which can be accessed in less than 10 minutes on foot, offers a handful of excellent tavernas, a bakery, where bread is baked daily on the premises, a mini-market and two cafes.
The closest beach, which is at the village resort of Almeritha, can be reached in just 6 minutes by car. It is a sandy bay with safe swimming and plenty of facilities including waterside tavernas, a handful of shops, cafes and some water sports.
