“Olde Oregon By -The -Sea” is located in the tranquil village of Neskowin, Oregon. Get away from the hustle and bustle in our modern Victorian. Arrive, store your car keys, and relax! Within just a couple minutes on foot, you will have the opportunity to observe our resident Bald Eagles perched high upon Proposal Rock. Wait until low tide and walk through the long-buried ghost forest for your chance to see all sorts of native aquatic life in the tide pools. As the sun sets, why not build a bonfire and savor your favorite Pinot Noir? Getting hungry? Travel less than a minute’s walk to a delicious restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner! Just a few steps further and you can pick up your own supplies at the village’s general store. For golfers, a 5 minute walk from our porch brings you to a 9-hole course. There is a even a post office in case you want to make your friends jealous with a postcard! Or perhaps your idea of getaway is nestled in front of fireplace with a good book? Let me you tell you about “Olde Oregon By The Sea”…
Replicated after a vintage house in Portland, our home was built in 2003. Once you enter thru the antique farmhouse door and hang your belongings in the foyer, you will immediately feel at home. The first level includes a large kitchen and dining area, a cozy living room, a large bedroom/full bath, and a patio with ample outdoor seating. The kitchen is well appointed for dining and cooking with a granite counter space for large food prep occasions. Seating around the dining table comfortably seats 7. A storage closet off the main kitchen area contains a table and chairs to accommodate larger groups. Off the kitchen and dining area is a comfortable living room that includes a fire place, LCD television w/ DirectTV, access to the patio, and plenty of soft-leather seating for that afternoon nap! The patio is the perfect place to read on a sunny afternoon. It’s also been known as a great spot for several friends to share wine and cheese! The only bedroom on the first level is situated down a hall from the kitchen. Sink into this king-size pillow top mattress and wrap yourself in high thread count linens. Beware…our beds are not conducive to rising early. Electric heat in every room with thermostats.
The second level has two extra large bedrooms, a entertainment room, a utility room, and a full sized bathroom. Both bedrooms on this level, like the bedroom below, have king sized pillow top mattresses and are fitted with luxury linens. Each room in “Olde Oregon By- The- Sea” has a private seating area designed for special Alone Time. One of the bedrooms has a separate balcony. The entertainment room contains a large LCD with DirectTV, a DVD player, DVDs, board games, books, and a comfortable sectional sofa. The utility room gives our guests the opportunity to remind themselves that they are, in fact, not in a dream…so wash and dry your clothes with our full sized washer and dryer. The large bathroom has a walk-in shower and a extra-large soaking Jacuzzi tub.
Please note that a specific agreement must be made prior to confirming a reservation to our home. Thank you for your interest. We hope you love our home as much as we do. Look forward to hearing from you soon!
According to Coastal Living Magazine, Neskowin was chosen as the best Secret Hideaway Beach in the US. From U.S. 101, you barely notice the village, let alone the beach. That’s why you might have this breathtaking confluence of sea, sand, and scenery all to yourself. Neskowin boasts 6 miles of pristine beach, unparalleled salmon fishing, heralded hiking trails, and a calm that exists despite the many winter storms. Elk are known to walk right thru the village. Fly into Portland, OR, rent a car, and a 2 hour drive thru National Forests. We love it because it takes your breath away to be surrounded by all the beauty and the mighty ocean.
This is the only home in the village, where everyone stops and compliments you on its appearance. Enjoy its lovely garden and flowers. You are in the 3 Capes Scenic area on the Oregon Coast, so plenty of opportunities for hiking/tide pooling/biking/fishing/photography
My family recently stayed at this cute Victorian, which is just steps away from the village. It was perfect for having all ages. The rooms are lovely and well appointed. You just melt into the beds and every need is met in the kitchen for whatever your cooking needs may be. It does have a large downstairs bedroom, which was perfect for my 89 year old dad and two more large bedrooms upstairs with another den/sitting room upstairs. The Village Market has pretty much anything you need and easy access. The little restaurant that is there fills up quickly, so waiting can be long, but doing take out is good. Just remember on weekends, waits for dinner/pizza can be more than two hours, so be prepared. Lincoln City is 15 minutes away for bigger shopping needs and many restaurants. We went to the Bay House for Thanksgiving dinner and they did a wonderful job. Highly suggest it with reservations. Overall, our trip was fantastic, would have been perfect if we had sunshine and less rain, but it is the Oregon Coast. We will go back.
The house was wonderful, but we were distraught that there was no internet service. The wireless router was a mess; it would connect and disconnect every 5 seconds, and it often took over an hour to assign our phone/PC an IP Address. When it would connect to the Internet (once an hour for 2-3 minutes, we found the owner had contracted with Embarq telephone company (rather than Comcast). Embarq service was 512KB down, 128KB up ... roughly the same speed as the telephone modems we used in 1995.
We tried to get help from the rental company but they said it was a problem the owner would have to fix. The router was locked in a closet, so we could not reset it, and of course the rental company was just there to collect money, not fix problems.
We ended up driving down to Lincoln City Starbucks 3-4 times a day, every day, so we could get the business done that was required.
We were terribly disappointed that such a nice property had advertised Internet service when they actually had none
My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed every stay at Olde Oregon by the Sea and cannot wait to go back. The listing and photos are accurate; in fact, the house is more beautiful and spacious than portrayed! It is also very versatile - the perfect home base for an activity-filled week or a cozy hideaway for a weekend to just unwind.
This house has everything you need for a luxurious vacation and then some. My favorite place in the house is the living room, sitting in front of the fireplace with a good book. You can stay in and cook a gourmet meal in the fully-equipped kitchen or eat out in nearby Pacific City or Lincoln City. The Pelican Pub and Grateful Bread Baking Company in Pacific City are must-tries!
Right outside the front door you have the local community, beach (which we have never seen crowded!), and Proposal Rock to explore and countless other outdoor activities close by. We highly recommend the Cape Lookout hike!
I am usually the type that needs a "vacation from my vacation", but I can really relax at this place while enjoying the gorgeous Oregon Coast. Olde Oregon by the Sea is the perfect beach getaway, and we would not think of staying anywhere else.
I have stayed at this property five times and my next trip cannot come soon enough. The moment I leave I begin to plot my return. This house keeps pulling me back again and again. Like the waves of the ocean, which by the way you can see and faintly hear from the house, I return ritualistically twice a year. Usually, I am not one to travel repeatedly to the same place no matter how beautiful it may be. The world is big I want to see it all. And yet...I keep returning to this house. It is magical and different and yet still somehow the same in that it never disappoints every time I visit. The house itself is full of light - windows on every floor letting the sun and the ocean air fill the rooms. Outside the large picture windows are beautiful flowers and porches that invite you to linger a little longer. The bathrooms are huge and spa-like especially with fluffy towels (at least for a NYC girl that is used to micro-sized living spaces!). My favorite room has to be the living room with windows all around, the fireplace, the lovely view of the village street and the flowers blooming in the yard. Grab a cup of coffee and a comfy throw and you've found a place to roost, read, and relax for the day. The kitchen is great for wine and cheese parties with friends (I've had a many in my stays). You get the feeling this house was meant for entertaining and enjoying friends. I've always traveled with a group and everyone has their own space to retire to at night or during the day for a little nap. There is no bunking in twin beds here! Its king beds all the way! How amazing it was to awake to the smell of the ocean as I luxuriously slept in the very middle of a king bed! The freshly brewed locally grown coffee scent wafting through the house (It's near Portland, coffee capitol, after all) is my most favorite scent after the ocean of course. This house is absolutely perfect and tranquil. If you want to venture out then you don't have far to go. It is in close proximity to many local sites - ocean and cliff hikes, art galleries, farm stands, wine tasting, artisanal and locally sourced goods, excellent restaurants, a world renowned spa, health food stores - all within a nice scenic drive. I recommend you stop what you are doing and plan your escape here asap!
What a delightful home and a great place to stay while you enjoy the Oregon coast. Convenient location to get to all the sights and attractions in the area. You'll get hooked on the morning walks on the beach! Everything about this house is first-rate.
This home is just sooo beautiful. You truly do get a little taste of old Oregon by the sea. In comparison to other places we have stayed, we didn't get that second hand furnishings feel inside this well equipped home. Everything seems brand new.
Talk about conveniently located, you can't miss this perfectly located, shrine of beauty, boldly standing stall in the quaint Neskowin village.
See you next year!
