DALMATIAN COAST DELIGHTS...........
The Unesco World Heritage city of Trogir is enchanting. Built on a tiny island and encircled by the ancient town walls with two historic gates its shady narrow cobbled alleys, courtyards and squares are lined with venetian stone buildings and bell towers. Visit the awe inspiring Cathedral with countless treasures and sculptures and admire the architecture of the churches and municipal buildings and their beautiful carvings and interiors. Enjoy a meal or drinks in one of the many restaurants, cafes, pizzerias and ice cream parlours which line the narrow streets. Browse the tiny shops or street stalls with their range of clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery, souvenirs and local artists paintings. Visit the bustling market just outside the town walls or climb to the top of the Kamerlengo Castle for fantastic views. Sit in a quayside cafe and watch the luxury yachts moor up.
Take the ferry trip along the coast to Split and embark near the Roman Diocletian Palace for a fascinating day.
SO MUCH TO DO.........SO MUCH TO SEE.......
Hire a pedalo, jet ski or small boat from the local Beach Sports Centre or try your hand at paragliding or banana boat and rubber ring rides.
Why not be more adventurous and take a Quad & Buggy Safari through the forest and mountain trails of Ciovo or visit the island's Paintballing Centre.
Relax on the beach where you can hire a sun lounger and parasol. The many beach bars offer fast food snacks, ice creams, cool beers, soft drinks and cocktails just yards from you. Stalls sell fresh fruit, juices, pancakes, jewellery and beach goods. The warm sea is perfect for swimming and snorkelling to see the wide variety of fish species which live in the rocky crevices. Make sure to wear jelly shoes or similar for comfort on the shingly beach. For more solitude you can take a walk through the woods to secluded local coves.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Yes the arrangements were exellent and we had a wonderful time. The apartment is absolutely lovely and the views amazing. I think something very special about the
accommodation is that it feels as if every item is chosen with personal care and that makes you feel welcome. The Island is beautiful and there is so much to explore nearby.
Lynne Barker-owner's daughter / Cynthia Bidwell-owner
My name is Cynthia and I was born and grew up in a small village north of Cambridge in England. I have a grown up son and daughter and three grand daughters aged 11, 9 and 18 months. Family is very important to me. My daughter Lynne helps me to manage the Penthouse View apartment. As a family we visit the apartment often and it is very much home from home to us. We have enjoyed making it a comfortable and relaxing retreat and we have made very good friends in Okrug Gornji village.
I have lived in the same village all my life and am very much involved in the community being a member of the Parish Council, a trustee of the local Day Centre for the elderly and a trustee of our Town Lands Charity. I belong to the Gardening Club and the local branch of the British Legion and was Chairman of our Carnival Committee for many years. I am the practice manager at a local GP practice and have worked there for over 40 years.
My roots will always be in my home village but I love to travel and visit other countries. My partner Simon and I spent 5 years building a 36ft yacht and we sailed thousands of miles around the coast of Britain, across the North Sea and eventually down to the Mediterranean Sea where we kept our yacht for many years and sailed all around the Med. Simon is currently building a 50ft steel yacht behind our house so that we can continue our sailing into our retirement days. Having an apartment base on the beautiful Adriatic coast where we can moor our yacht within view of our own balcony and knowing that it will be safe when we are back home in Britain is I think having the best of both worlds.
We are not wealthy and have worked hard to achieve what we have now but have been lucky that we grew up in a time when that was possible. I think things will be tougher for the younger generations.
We heard from a friend that the apartment block was due to be built by a local builder who they knew well. We visited the area and fell in love with both the island and the site. We stayed locally several times during the build and were impressed with the quality of the work. We were involved in choosing the floor coverings, kitchen and bathroom fittings and other details which have all meant that this is an apartment which is individual to us. We have become friends with the builder Mijo and his wife Bozena and their family. They live in the apartment block next door and they look after our property for us. We know that Penthouse View and our guests are in safe hands.
The views from this apartment are amazing and we never fail to be moved by the spectacular sunsets from our balcony. I was determined to have a swinging seat on the balcony and I have spent many a happy hour gently swinging and soaking up the atmosphere. Penthouse View is a wonderful place to recharge the batteries and to take some 'me' time in an otherwise very busy life. It is easily accessible from Britain with a short flight time and then just a 10 minute drive from the local Split airport which is modern and efficient. Our friendly taxi driver Vjenceslav (or Mr V) can meet you at the airport and deliver you to the front door where Bozena will greet you and show you the apartment. I'm afraid there are three short flights of stairs to the top of the building but the view is definitely worth it.
Ciovo Island and Okrug Gornji are an ideal location to enjoy the unique delights of the Dalmatian Coast. You are based in a beautiful island community but have the added benefits of road links to the mainland by bridge which means you can easily explore the wider Dalmatian coast area.
