About Madeline Yankee
We live in Alameda, California, about 1 hour from Sonoma. For more than seven years we have been looking for that perfect Sonoma house that we could enjoy with our three children and our friends. We love to entertain, swim, play hard and rest in a relaxed atmosphere that is beautiful but not stuffy. We wanted to be close to the bay area but also feel like we were really away from everything. We love the Sonoma area and focused our search there because it is a fantastic, unpretentious place with outstanding food, great festivals, a vibrant artistic community and is ideal for couples, friends and families.
Madeline Yankee purchased this house in 2012
Why Madeline Yankee chose Sonoma
We loved this property because both the house and the surrounding land allowed us to have nearly every amenity imaginable, all in the heart of the wine country. The house, which was built in 1995, had been lovingly maintained when we bought it. It was butter yellow with mature grape vines growing over the arbors in the backyard. The house needed some updating when we bought it, but that was a task we enthusiastically embraced. We have been waiting for this for so long that in renovating and appointing the house we tried to include every thing that allows us to really escape. The television quality is awesome, the salt water pool feels outstanding, the linens, the art, the pool table, ping pong table, yoga studio, etc. all make us feel like this is really our retreat. We could not love this home more and hope you feel the same way.
What makes this house unique
What I really love about this house is that we were able to pay attention to the little details that can make a place special like new cook books in the kitchen, indoor and outdoor wine glasses, an outdoor copper fire pit, and down comforters. Throughout the property there are little surprises like ripe grapes and peaches growing in the yard in the summer. It is truly a delicious, romantic, spacious, family-friendly retreat.
