A Jewel Of A Hamlet, 12 Kms North Of Nice

Ours is a little stone house of great charm which sleeps 4 in one of the most delightful and unspoilt medieval 'perched' villages in the South of France, 20 minutes' drive from Nice. Located at the top of the village, only a few meters below the old Château which crests it, the house is fully equipped and wonderfully cool in the hot summer months.

With four equal-sized rooms one above the other, it comprises an eat-in kitchen on the ground floor and above it, with a large bathroom and separate WC inbetween, two bedrooms with extremely comfortable queen-size (160 cm) sofabeds. The house is equipped with wireless broadband as well as satellite television.

Ideal for two couples or a couple with one or two children, (we offer a folding bed and/or a cot) it offers the added advantage of security in the absence of cars which must be parked at the entrance to the village!

A perfect haven of peace, but with a crêperie, a pizzeria and a fancier restaurant from which to choose, with several picturesque villages close by, Carros Village is an ideal place for resting, hiking, excursions into the beautiful hinterland or as a base for exploring the whole of the French Riviera. Literally every one of our tenants has fallen in love with it!

About Paola Sandersley

My husband Peter, who is British and I, American born to Italian parents, are a fit, retired couple. We bought this little house 20 years ago and still love to spend time in the village though we now live permanently on the coast, in Beaulieu sur Mer.

We have had this little house for 20 years and I still find it absolutely enchanting. With its red tiled floors, white plastered walls and wooden beams, it has tremendous charm in its simplicity and will delight you - as will this very special, magical village. Be prepared to fall under its spell!

What makes this house unique

Total peace and quiet + a rural quality only 20 minutes away from bustling Nice. In the hills, with views to the Esteron Valley and the sea to the south, it has fabulous views of the pre-Alps and Alps beyond them to the north. An ideal place to rest, to walk, read, write, paint... We have lots of artists in the village. If you are contemplative by nature and/or creative you will fit right in!

And if you have children, they can play outside with no supervision: within hours everyone will know who they are. They are sure to find playmates - and there are no cars to worry about as they are banned!

Carros Village (18 kms north of Nice airport) is one of the smallest and certainly prettiest of the 'perched' (hilltop) medieval villages which dot the region. Every corner of the village could be a theater backdrop and on a balmy, starry evening, with the old street lamps glowing, it is breathtakingly beautiful.

Notes: Though Nice is only 20 minutes away by car, if what you like is crowds and night clubs this medieval village may not be for you! Special events are frequent (the patron saint's day, assorted harvest days, music, whole village garage sales, etc.) but you must relish peace, quiet and the contact with nature. Great walks, clean air, delightful, child-friendly villages all around and, as ever, good food and wine everywhere.
