Set high up in the unspoilt Andalucian mountains near the famous Torcal Natural Park(1336 mtrs above sea level), which is home to the Imperial eagle and Spanish Ibex. It is within easy reach of Seville, Ronda, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga beaches and seafood restaurants. Antequera Golf course is 20 min away and the famous Costa del Sol golf courses are from 70 min away.

The local village, VillaNueva de la Concepcion (3000 inhabitants)(5min by car) has supermarkets, restaurants, petrol station, banks(ATM Machines) 24hr .medical centre, fishmonger, butcher, tobacconist.

The El Choro gorge and the lakes are nearby. Vlla Nueva de la Concepcion (local village) has many events, fiesta etc. The nearest ancient town is Antequera, really worth a visit..

Kitchen has dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, gas cooker, well equipped for all needs.

About Timothy Lowden

We have two children and 3 grandchildren who love using the house as it is so well equipped, very peaceful and within easy reach of all the facilities you could possibly want. We fell in love with the view, the sunsets and the garden we have created. We are both very musical and sing with choirs on the coast, go to concerts in Malaga and elsewhere and enjoy the Spanish cooking all the many local restaurants. In the 8 years we have owned the property, local amenities have improved so much.

Why Timothy Lowden chose Villanueva de la Concepcion

We knew we needed a stunning view of open farm land with animals grazing (goats), good bird life and within easy reach of excellent shopping facilities. It is so peaceful, sometimes we wonder if we are the only people on the planet! There is mains water, solar heating and a lovely pool. We have retained the 'rustique' style of the house but thoroughly modernised the inside without spoiling it.

What makes this cottage unique

We bought a rundown house but we could immediately see the potential, the Andulucian windows, doors and arches. It stands alone in an acre of land. There are two (related) Spanish families who are very friendly and help with the garden when we are not there who live nearby.

Lovely secluded rural setting, stunning views, great weather and a very enjoyable pool.....just perfect ingredients for our family spring holiday that ended up feeling like a summer holiday!

Easy to enjoy an uneventful day in and around the house, close enough to the places you need to see when you are in Andalucia like Cordoba, Sevilla and close enough to the local shops.

Warning: children will instantly turn into pool-orientated creatures with blocked ears: it did allow us parents to crash out in the lounge set, sipping Spanish wine(courtesy of the owners on arrival) and read a book. BBQ-ed every night, using lemons off the tree in the backyard, fish one evening, meat the next and so on.

Hated to say goodbye to this lifestyle after enjoying it for a full week. Great place......

Silence is golden!

We have stayed at the Lowden's Villa 3 times and the last occasion was in September 2012. On each visit we have found improvements to both the house and garden. A great deal of thought has gone into creating a very attractive,comfortable and well equipped holiday venue. There was a problem with noisy dogs at the farm, but they have been moved on and silence is golden! We have always found the house in good order on arrival as well as being met by the housekeeper with a welcome pack. Staying in the winter, we found the solar underfloor heating excellent. There are lovely walks in the mountains.
Locally, there are good food shops, supermarkets and cheap good restaurants despite the rural location. The house is easy to run and provides comfortable accommodation in both sun and shade. The pool setting is spectacular and the garden amazing for a holiday house. Prime Andalusian tourist attractions such as Cordoba, Seville, Ronda and Granada are within easy reach.

Home from home

Stayed here for one week during August. The property is very clean, spacious bedrooms, large comfy beds, large bathrooms, well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. The outside seating and dining area is shaded with good quality furniture for relaxing and taking in the stunning views. Pool is very welcoming to cool down in the heat. This property is about two miles from the village, set in the hills it is rural and peaceful ( the locals dogs can on occasion be a bit noisy, but this is the countryside and it seems to be the same in other parts of Spain). Torcal National Park is well worth a visit as is the Lobo Wolf Park. We had our eight year old with us and found plenty of interesting things to do in the area for him and us. If you want to get away from the hordes on the coast and relax then this villa is to be recommended. It is worth mentioning how helpful it was to have a representative on hand to recommend places to eat and visit. There was also a good welcome pack provided with enough items to get us through the first night and morning.
