Santa Fe is the second largest art market in North America, with galleries throughout downtown and all along the length of Canyon Road. Excellent skiing is just 30 minutes up the mountain, and the hiking to be had up near the ski area or even closer to town (near St. John's College) is stunning. Take a day trip to Taos on the 'high road' through the small and picturesque towns that help define the special place that is Northern New Mexico.
