ALOHA! If you are looking for paradise look no more. This beachfront backyard bungalow is located on Sunset Beach in the heart of the world famous North Shore on a private sand beach that stretches miles in both directions. One of the most desirable beaches in the world, as seen on travel channel’s top ten beaches numerous times. The home is perfect for those looking for a relaxing, exciting, perfect vacation. Tucked back in a quiet neighborhood off the bike path. Whether you are looking to catch a wave, hang in the hammock with a book, snorkel/scuba dive the gorgeous reefs, grill out your fresh catch, bask in the sun, North Shore has whatever a perfect vacation entails to you! World class surf break “Backyards” directly in front of house with “Sunset” “Rocky Point” and “Pipeline” steps away! The beach in front of the house is absolutely breathtaking and hardly used as there is no public access to it close to the home. The water is crystal clear and the snorkeling is great.
The North Shore is the quite part of Oahu but is only minutes from great food, shopping and fantastic sites.
The house is less than ten minutes from the historic town of Haleiwa, which is the main town on the north shore of Oahu. It has lots of restaurants, shopping, a marina (in case you would like to go deep sea fishing), and live entertainment nightly in some of the restaurants. About five miles away from the house in the other direction, are two championship golf courses, horseback riding, lots of amazing restaurants, and several bars. Ted’s Bakery is walking distance from the homes with some of the best food on this side of the island. There are always exciting surf competitions to watch during the winter months such as the Triple Crown(Pipeline Masters which is the super bowl of surfing) and the much anticipated Eddie Aikau Invitational.
There is a great Supermarket “Food Land” about a half mile from the house, which also has a Starbucks coffee shop. All the Island activities, from scuba diving, to jet-skis are all just minutes away from this tropical retreat. Scuba diving is also a major attraction on the North Shore with both boat and shore dives available. Waimea Falls is only a mile away, and hiking at Waimea Valley and visiting the falls is an unforgettable experience. The property is 1 of 9 properties in all of the North Shore that gets an unobstructed view of the sunset over the water 365 days of the year!(very very special!!)
The house is 2 bedrooms-one with 2 twin beds and other with one queen size bed, one full bath and one half bath, fully equipped kitchen, one pull out couch
(We also have a few floor mattresses) Living room has a new 51' flatscreen TV with a dvd player for movie nights..The property has a long private gated driveway!
This is a shared property with another seperate home next door please see VRBO listing! http://www.vrbo.com/468998
Why this property? Because it has such an authentic Hawaiian vibe with the most amazing quiet beach in its back yard! Families that rent our property come as strangers and usually end up leaving as friends as they get to meet with other families on or near the property and creating lifetime friendships/memories!
My husband and I stayed at the house for a week in mid-February. The house is just as it appears in the photos. It was clean and well supplied. The house is cozy and colorful! We ate most of our meals on the covered patio. In addition there is a covered lanai at the end of the yard that is perfect for watching the ocean and sunsets. There are about 10 steps down to the beach. There is a covered area right below the house to put your beach chair for reading. The surf was high in February so only expert swimmers can enter water. It was great fun to watch the stand up paddle board surfers. There is snorkeling close by at Turtle Bay. There are bikes to use and the bike path is easy to find and just a few blocks away.
The whales were breaching the day we arrived. The hosts were available to answer questions and were helpful and friendly. We had the greatest time relaxing, exploring the area and walking the beach. There's not a lot more to ask for! It was a perfect escape from winter. We also stayed at Waikiki Beach and this was a wonderful way to escape the city! I highly recommend you stay, knowing I will risk some competition for rental when I want to stay here again.
If you are looking for granite counter tops, beige walls and generally everything you probably have at home - do not stay here. But if you want character, Hawaiian cottage vibe and a fun, comfortable place that says "relax and have a good time" from your first step in the door, this is it.
While not a design showroom, everything is comfortable and works: big refrigerator, plenty of water, plenty of HOT water, good shower, big TV in living rm, TV's in bedrooms, plenty of extra bedding, towels, covered lanai, W/D, outdoor showers (I've got to get one), bikes and beach stuff to use and even a transient plump Chihuahua that came and went as she pleased. (Don't like dogs? just point her out the door). The beach is right there and the patio at the edge of the yard was perfect for morning coffee and evening sunsets.
We stayed with our daughters and son's in law and grandchild and all agreed that it was the best and we will return. Can't wait.
This little piece of paradise was much more than we imagined. The house was just like the pictures. The yard was beautiful and a great place to catch all those amazing sunsets. We were there a week and felt like we were on our own private beach. Not a good swimming beach but the family loved the snorkeling. We will definitely be back and thanks Melissa for sharing your paradise with us. Mahalo!
We had one of the best vacations here. Our family enjoyed everything about this vacation home. We went fishing, surfing, snorkelling, biking. we grilled out, laid around on the amazing beachfront property! Melissa was so awesome when I was booking. So helpful. We rented two of the three houses on the property. We couldnt have been happier. We loved eating outside with family. The gazebo was great for sunset dinners. They had bikes, snorkel gear, all kinds of beach things. The house had everything we needed! We live in Hawaii and had family in town. We wanted to stay all together at the beach. It was great! We feel blessed to have had such a great vacation in such a beautiful place. We definitely will be coming back! Thanks so much Melissa for all the Aloha!!
The property is exactly as depicted: manicured lawn and backyard, from where you can step through a gate and down a few steps and you are on the beach. The backyard is shared with two other rental properties, but since it is nice and big, this was not an issue at all. We saw very few people on the beach and had it basically to ourselves. Whether you eat at the table inside or outside, you can always see the ocean.
The layout of the kitchen was great, but it would have been nice to have a ceramic cooktop. Also, I would have liked to have more silverware/plates/bowls, etc. since we were 5 people.
It was conveniently located for all kinds of activities: surfing, stand up paddling, Dole plantation, Polynesian Cultural Center, etc. But what we liked best was to just hang out in the backyard or on the beach, watch the sunset, and relax. We can definitely recommend this property and would love to return!
My family of 5 stayed here for 7 days and it was perfect!! This cozy quiet House was a GREAT place to go to after 3 days in busy Waikiki. The back yard has BEAUTIFUL views and has a fire pit, nice BBQ grill and the gazebo was GREAT!!! The cool rock staircase took you to the beach down from the back yard and it is AMAZING!!!! The pictures in this listing are true to what you get BEAUTIFUL!!!!! There were 5 in our family and it was plenty of room for us. Loved that the house had beach cruisers and snorkel gear to use and there is a bike trail close to the house to ride. Only a few things that I would recommend that need improved-a few of the bikes had flat tires, BBQ grill ran out of gas but there was another bottle with a little in it. House needs some fix ups like new shower curtain, more towels and cleaning done behind the beds and in the corners of floors and ceiling. The AC wouldn't work so we just left the windows open all the time. So it was plenty warm but who needs make-up and a hair do in Hawaii anyway right!!! would definatly recommend this house to my friends and family. Tyler was very nice to work with
