Photos and Description of the Tarpon Springs vacation house rental
2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, sleeps 4

1300 sq. ft. home on the Anclote River between the Greek Sponge docks and the Gulf.

Grill fresh fish and set up dinner on the dock, then boat out to the keys. Play golf nearby, hike or bike the Pinellas Trail that slips through the center of old Tarpon Springs.

About Scott and Betsy Taylor

Scott is an airline pilot, Betsy an artist, who are happiest near the water. Life-long sailors who summered on sailboats in Maine, and a lake cottage in Southern Ontario, their home is inland in the Finger Lakes region of Western NY. Our three grown children live in Boston and NYC and visit when they can. Our 3 year old grandson loves fishing or lying on the dock to observe the dolphins hunt together, watch the crabs and lizards in the mangroves, or the eagle battle it out with the ospreys in aerial stunt flying.

Scott and Betsy Taylor purchased this house in 2009
Why Scott and Betsy Taylor chose Tarpon Springs

After visiting the Tarpon Bayous and Anclote River and Key for years, friends found this sweet location and talked us into buying it to upgrade and share with them. Purchased from the family of the original home on 'Pioneer Point', we are in love with the setting and are continuing to improve the home. Because we use it as a second home it is outfitted as we need a home to be! The newest project is a dock rebuild with a ramp to a floating dock for kayak access. Shallow draft boats can tie up to the pilings.

What makes this house unique

Lovely, twisted live oaks frame the water view from the house, and the dock is a favorite spot to gather for watching birds, dolphins, the local fishing fleet and the sunset. Well around the bend in the road, it becomes a quiet, private neighborhood, safe from through-traffic, yet a fun bike ride or boat ride to the beaches. Kayak south to the Greek Sponge Docks for great food and entertainment, to the bayous, or north to Miss Vickie's to eat lunch on the water. Boat out the river to Anclote Key and Shark Island for serious beach and swim time.

My friends and I loved this beautiful home and I got all the credit because i found it. The owners have created and now are sharing their beautiful , comfortable and convenient get-away space. All the things we wanted in vacation home were there and more. the setting and the weather were perfect ( can't count on the weather of course. There was even a gGreat Blue Herron on the dock the whole afternoon of our arrival. We were so pleased/

Wonderful House, great stay

This was a fantastic place to stay, and one of the best finds we've had through VRBO. My wife, our 6 month old son and I stayed here for a week, and were constantly impressed with how thoughtfully maintained everything was, how beautiful the views from the dock were, and how easy it was to relax in this house. The kitchen is well stocked, and there was even a good selection of food, spices and oil, including a bottle of wine and a box of baklava. We've stayed in too many places where it looks like the owners would never use their own kitchen, but this is not one of them. The house is tastefully decorated with Danish Modern furniture, and Betsy's lovely paintings of their back yard. Scott and Betsy were very conscientious and called us numerous times both before and during our visit to make sure everything was OK. They employ a property manager who lives nearby who was very helpful when we arrived and was on-call if there were any problems. This place is a keeper, and we'll certainly stay here again the next time we're in Florida.
