Scott is an airline pilot, Betsy an artist, who are happiest near the water. Life-long sailors who summered on sailboats in Maine, and a lake cottage in Southern Ontario, their home is inland in the Finger Lakes region of Western NY. Our three grown children live in Boston and NYC and visit when they can. Our 3 year old grandson loves fishing or lying on the dock to observe the dolphins hunt together, watch the crabs and lizards in the mangroves, or the eagle battle it out with the ospreys in aerial stunt flying.

Scott and Betsy Taylor purchased this house in 2009

After visiting the Tarpon Bayous and Anclote River and Key for years, friends found this sweet location and talked us into buying it to upgrade and share with them. Purchased from the family of the original home on 'Pioneer Point', we are in love with the setting and are continuing to improve the home. Because we use it as a second home it is outfitted as we need a home to be! The newest project is a dock rebuild with a ramp to a floating dock for kayak access. Shallow draft boats can tie up to the pilings.

Lovely, twisted live oaks frame the water view from the house, and the dock is a favorite spot to gather for watching birds, dolphins, the local fishing fleet and the sunset. Well around the bend in the road, it becomes a quiet, private neighborhood, safe from through-traffic, yet a fun bike ride or boat ride to the beaches. Kayak south to the Greek Sponge Docks for great food and entertainment, to the bayous, or north to Miss Vickie's to eat lunch on the water. Boat out the river to Anclote Key and Shark Island for serious beach and swim time.

When indoors, newly installed central Air super UV filtration system keeps the home allergen-free.

Relaxing location

  • 5 of 5
Nice House in a quiet location. We enjoyed staying here. We enjoyed the kayaks and hammock. Screened porch was excellent also. Owners very helpful. Only 2 things negative about the house was the master bath was Very small and we came and went a lot to visit family and do things, so driving around the bay to get there repeatedly was tiring. Beach parks very nearby, that was great! We would stay here again.

This is a great place for relaxing, enjoying a river view with close access to beaches by water or bicycle. It was really great to have the Kayak and the dock for easy access to the water. The home is very comfortable and has everything needed. The neighborhood is very quiet good for walking or bicycling, a quick ride to Howard Park for a sunset. We enjoyed watching birds from the dock, a bald eagle lives very close.
I recommend this for a couple or family get away, but you'll want to stay longer!
Tarpon Springs is a lovely town and very easy to get to from Tampa, we enjoy the ride across to Clearwater and coming up Alternate 19, slow but more scenic.
Will definetly visit again when in the area.

Most relaxing lanai

  • 5 of 5
I came with two ladies in their 80's who needed to relax almost as much as I. It was everything I hoped for and more. We were very close to the Tarpon Springs greek village but not caught up in the hipe of sightseeing. Daily we had the "regulars" join us, a blue heron, an egret and the many ibus that would stroll the walk along the bulkhead. Inthe evening we watched the many boats come in, including a troller that was lit over every inch. Nothing has been more relaxing.

The owners were easily available to answer questions or solve any problem. I hopeto return someday.

Tarpon 2013

  • 5 of 5
Deciding that it was preferable to rent a private property rather than an impersonal hotel for the 5 days that we were in Tarpon Springs, I am more than satisfied with this rental. The owners were willing to work with me on a price for the short time that we were staying there and its location was within 10 minutes of all of the family that we were visiting. In fact, those family members who knew the area well, were impressed with the size, condition, cleanliness and coziness of the house. Traveling with an older parent and younger niece, we felt at home and could relax more before setting out on daily adventures to the aquarium, beach, docks, etc. The location on the bay was fantastic and a manatee may have even been spotted! I could recommend renting this home to anyone visiting this area and may even consider using it again in the future.

A Spiritual Escape

  • 5 of 5
A much needed refuge from the storms of the world. We could not have imagined a more relaxing stay. The small house is right on the Anclote River and includes all the amenities to take advantage of one's stay. We loved sitting out on the dock in the morning to catch sight of Osprey, Kingfishers and Herons. In the evenings we enjoyed grilling seafood and dining on the lanai while watching the sun set. Scott and Betsy have a jewel of a home. If we fail to close on our own place, we hope to return. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Scott and I are planning to retire to this wonderful spot, eventually. When we spend time there we are mostly working on house projects, so far. It's very satisfying to hear that you appreciate what we love about our home!

My friends and I loved this beautiful home and I got all the credit because i found it. The owners have created and now are sharing their beautiful , comfortable and convenient get-away space. All the things we wanted in vacation home were there and more. the setting and the weather were perfect ( can't count on the weather of course. There was even a gGreat Blue Herron on the dock the whole afternoon of our arrival. We were so pleased/
