Kamas House Rental Photos and Description

4 bed 3 bath, large master suite. Running creek in the back and mountain views

Mirror Lake Retreat is the perfect year-round destination to enjoy both a little solitude and easy access to activities and conveniences in the surrounding area. This well-appointed retrofitted barn-style home includes all of the modern amenities - wifi, cable and xbox gaming, but if you would rather disconnect from it all there is a wood stove in the very comfortable family room with a very sleepable pull-out Crate and Barrel couch.

The upstairs is a private master suite with its own balcony overlooking the mountains. The master bathroom includes a spacious two-head walk-in shower and imperial footed bathtub. The bunk bed room sleeps 6 comfortably.

Summer: The property has large fire-pit in the back near by a running creek for storytelling and s'mores. When it's lights out you are presented with a deep view of the starry sky and crisp mountain air, perfect for camping on-site or for the more adventurous, at one of the many campgrounds just minutes up the road. The on-property creek contains plenty of trout, but for those who want a sure thing the Fun Family Fishing Trout Farm is walking distance. They will provide rods and even clean the fish for you while you wait. The entertainment area includes a barbeque for grilling them up for a healthy meal. There are plenty of summer activities in the area, including dozens of hiking and biking trails, canoeing, kayaking, boating and water skiing at the nearby Jordanelle reservoir. Head the other way and you're on the scenic drive to to Mirror Lake, but don't forget to stop at the waterfall!

Winter: This is snowmobiling and snowshoeing country, but several Ski resorts, including the Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley are less than 20 minutes away. The well plowed roads all winter ensure you are never snowed in.

Year-round: Run across the street to the Samak Smokehouse whenever you get a hankering for the best smoked Jerky and cheeses on the planet. (We've tried quite a few). This place also carries high-quality organics. Our personal favorites are the homemade caramels and pomegranate licorice. Jen and Dave will certainly take care of you and also have canoes and snowshoes for rent. www.samaksmokehouse.com.

And that's not all, just up the street is The Notch Pub, serving up fish and chips and delicious home made burgers and staging live entertainment year-round. www.thenotchpub.com

Quaint Kamas Main street is only 10 minutes away, where you can find melt-in-your mouth pizzas, homeskillet breakfasts, and turn-it-upside-down malts.

After all that snacking, hit up the rec-center to swim a few laps, float the lazy river, zip around the water slide, play a round of racquetball or climb the rock wall. www.ssummit.k12.ut.us/ssafc.cfm

If exercise isn't your idea of a vacation, how about shopping? Park City main street and the Outlets are just a short drive away...

These are some of the many reasons we love our Mirror Lake Retreat. We hope you do too.

About Krista Stevens

We are an international family who has lived across the globe. We have had many people open their doors to us, and are excited to share our home with others.

Krista Stevens purchased this house in 2010

Why Krista Stevens chose Kamas

We are world travelers who bought the Mirror Lake Retreat as a place we can always go home to. After a lot of time searching through Tahoe and Park City, we finally found 'the one' We loved that it was so central to so many things, convenient yet remote enough to feel like we were truly getting away from it all.

What makes this house unique

The idea of a retrofitted barn wasn't our first choice, but when we actually saw it inside and out, we fell in love with its unique quality, solid craftsmanship, and the firepit and stream! Our family reunions have been pretty fun the past couple of years. We understand that every group has a different idea of what a vacation should be. Actually, sometimes every person in a group has a different idea of what a vacation should be, and this place can cater to all of them.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just wanted to drop a note to say we had an incredible time at the cabin.

Our stay was amazing. It snowed, the kids got to play in the snow, ski,

and snow board, and we all got to snowmobile. The cabin is beautiful. We

had plenty of room and it was clean and had all the amenities we needed.

My wife and I have already talked about returning next year

Great family gathering spot

  • 4 of 5
Our extended family enjoyed our stay at this home. Everything was clean and as noted in the listing. There were games to play and puzzles to do. We caught lots of trout in the stream and had a great time hiking around the area. The only reason I took off a star was the location on a busy road. The backyard was fenced but there were so many cars traveling right in front of the house, it made me nervous with so many little kids around. Other than that, it was fantastic.

Red Barn on Samuk highway

  • 5 of 5
The picture makes the residence look more isolated than it really is. It is right on the highway but once you walk into the house you feel separated from it. The house was very comfortable, clean and homey. We loved the fenced backyard for children to play in. We also ate outside because there was more room and we enjoyed being outdoors. We brought a couple of tables and some extra chairs. There was not as much space inside for several people to be seated to eat. We loved the accessibility to the mountains where we went hiking. We also enjoyed kayaking at the lake and visiting the Provo River Falls. Although we didn't visit Park City because of children it is certainly very accessible for a fun visit to shop and eat out. Thank you for letting us share your beautiful home. It was a great getaway without going far from home.

Happy campers

  • 5 of 5
The home was very beautiful and well appointed with everything we needed to relax and enjoy the winter scenery, and have some fun. We played board games, and cooked delicious food. The kitchen is fabulous, and was fun to cook in for our large group. I would love to stay there again.

Great Accomodations!

  • 4 of 5
We loved our stay at the Mirror Lake Lodge. It was accommodating for our group of 9 adults and 3 little ones. Kristen attended to every detail. The rooms were beautiful and the kitchen well stocked. The area was gorgeous and it was a perfect get away for our family to descend for a few days. Every detail about the lodge was first rate and comfortable! The master suite, laundry facilities, XBox games, board games, 3 bathrooms and isolated sleeping areas were accomodating for our little group.

The reason why I didn't give it a 5 star have to do with location. Although the canyon was beautiful and close to many amenities . . .we went fishing, boating at the Jordanelle and to the beautiful South Summit Rec center while we were there . . .there was plenty to do . . . with little ones, I wish we had been more isolated and not just off a major road. The backyard was wonderful for them to play in, but we would have enjoyed walks in the canyon, hikes to a park, creek or waterfalls without having to drive first. That cramped us into the lodge on our down time.

Other than that . . . we wouldn't change a thing!

Bumpy start but nice end

  • 4 of 5
We had issues with our arrival at the rental. The day prior to our arrival we received the conformation email with door code and other specifics as planned. However, the door code was wrong in the email. We spent the first evening frantically sending emails and phone calls trying to figure out how to get in. The property manager was unfortunately out of the country and so didn't get our messages until the following morning. We had to head back to Salt Lake and find alternative lodging.

The following day, we got the correct door code. The email had transposed some numbers. Once inside, the place was wonderful. The kitchen came well stocked with spices and other goods which was a welcome surprise. We actually had all of the ingredients to make cookies without even going to the store. The rooms where spacious and well furnished. The backyard was a great fenced in place for our small kids to play. Beyond the fence was a nice firepit and beautiful creek.

The owner of the property ended up giving us 2 nights free (including the one we didn't get to spend in the rental) and a gift basket to make up for the mistake. I felt this was adequate.

Overall, the place is great. Just wish the property manager had given us the right door code and also arranged for someone to be in the country and available at least on the first night to make sure that we got settled ok.

Owner's Response: Brian,

Thank you for your feedback. Once again please accept our sincere apologies for the mix-up. We strive to ensure that every stay works smoothly, and this was an unfortunate exception. As a result of this error, we have put safeguards in place to ensure it does not happen again. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay overall and I hope we see you again next year!

Perfect for families

  • 5 of 5
This place is great! The pictures don't even begin to do it justice. It was so nice to have family and kid friendly areas like the fenced in area with lush lawn and play equipment for the kids to play on without having to worry about them. It was also great to have a bunk room for them to all sleep together with their cousins. The kitchen was very well equipped and the home is very well put together. We utilized the firepit and fun was had by all. We didn't really let the kids get near the river since it was running swift and high, but it was nice to have the fence to keep them away. It was so convenient to be so close to Kamas if we needed to run and get something, and also be close to so many hiking trails, atv trails, lakes, and rivers just up the road to go exploring on. We have a family cabin about 15 miles away from here but I would definitely rent this place again in the future. Thanks for the opportunity to share your vacation home!
