Certainly, when you are here........You are in paradise.
The smell of the pines and the sound of the breeze in them and the laid back very relaxed pace................ Is like life in slow motion. You can see it and enjoy it all instead of racing past it.
(and, you don't have to golf to love the natural beauty of the courses in the area.) sitting on our deck, you are looking through the pines, left, toward the first tee and right to the first hole.......... And in between.... The first fairway! 2nd floor gallery seating! What a great place for coffee!
And, you are in a beach haven too.
Sunset beach and ocean isle beach and holden beach, to mention a few, are great places to start your fun in the sun. Find time to visit the kindred spirit mail box on bird island........And watch the (protected!) loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings in July.....As conservationists, like you and me, insure them safe passage to the sea! How cool is that?
Or, the out-of-this-world........The ingram plantitarium.
And, the ocean isle kayack tours. And the bellamy mansion museum. And wilmington azalea festival and house tours.........And the Alabama theater, big m casino, myrtle beach pelican baseball team and park, planet fun and the glide path at the aquarium and ripley's in myrtle beach.........Awesome!
If you find that you need to sit back and catch your breath..............Pull up your beach chair and catch some rays.............Or a snooze (it is vacation, after all!!) and enjoy as you are transported to a kicked back, relaxed you. And, a nap........ In the on shore breeze is such a restful one and a relaxing one. Don't forget the sunscreen!!!
Once 'replenished and rejuvinated' it is on to more sight seeing or strolling on the beach or hitting the greens, or deep sea fishing..........Pick your pleasure!
And to get a real sense of where you are and where you have been............There is the food!!!!!
Sea food. Bake or broiled.........Hot or cold........Catch your own or enjoy someone else's catch..........Cook your own or enjoy the menues of the eateries in the area. (we always have to stop at the boundry house first!) we cannot get enough of the local shrimp! (miss chandee's!) it is as if we have never eaten it before.......It tastes so different from the shrimp in the grocery stores up north. It is so fresh and sweet...............And comes with our without the heads!! (we always bring several pounds home with us and freeze at least two lbs. For thanksgiving appetizers! Talk about a wave of memories! Yum!)
Be certain, that you save room for ice cream at the creamery...........Fudge at callahan's..........And and and......
One of my favorites is the ferry ride to bald head island and the wonderful beachscape of cape fear. All i can think of to 'capture it' is tranquility...........
A step out of the rat race and into an easier time. Lots of shells for beach combing. Amazing views for photos.
Treat yourself to a golf cart rental to enjoy the whole of the island.
Climb aboard the battleship north carolina in the wilmington port.
And, there is everything in between!
