WATERFRONT-TAKE ME TO THE RIVER-SEE PRE-SUMMER RATES-2 CANOES-SLEEPS 8

My family had a one week stay at the river house and we loved it! The house has a perfect corner location on a canal leading out to the main river. Every day we were greeted by a mama manatee and her baby in the crystal clear water by the dock, who enjoyed eating heads of romaine lettuce while we enjoyed photographing them! The water was a bit too cold, otherwise we would have jumped in with them. Other wildlife was abundant as well. Bird feeders in the yard drew morning doves, cardinals and finches. Hummingbirds and woodpeckers, along with egrets and cranes visited daily. Ducks came looking for bread in the morning, and squirrels welcomed us with their chatter while we sipped coffee on the screened porch overlooking the water. My son fished day and night. The spacious yard allowed us nightly corn hole games as the mullet jumped in the water next to us. Our daily canoe and kayak expeditions took us to every nook and crany of the beautiful river rolling with manatees (literally since it was mating season!). Our house was spotless and made us feel right at home. The kitchen was well stocked as was the rest of the house. Every need was anticipated and met! We were so pleased that the owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. A highlight was the amply stocked paint , art easels and canvases available for our use. We all painted a masterpiece while there. Within walking distance was The Upper Deck where we enjoyed Slammin' Slaw Wings and live entertainment. Also the public beach/park where my son met some new friends. We rented a boat one day and ventured out to the flats and the gulf. It was a photographer's dream. On our last night we wandered over to Swainee's where we had fresh seafood right off of the boats docked in back and enjoyed Marty's (the owner) amazing voice and musical talent on the piano and guitar. I have rented several times before on the Weeki Wachee river, but this has been my favorite location by far. Thank you Susan for your hospitality and care! We are already planning our next visit!!!

My wife and I just finished a two-week stay here and we loved every minute of it. The house is clean, comfortable and well-appointed and exactly as described in the listing. It is whimsically decorated with a host of animal figures and signs, giving it a friendly, warm and happy aura. The house sits at the intersection of two canals, one of which connects to the Weeki Wachee River. Visitors included manatees, otters, turtles and a wide array of birds. Two canoes and all necessary equipment are available for paddling around on the canals and river. We did not fish off the docks, but you can if you wish to do so. We had really good meals at The Upper Deck, a local bar right on the river, La Bella Napoli, a terrific Italian place, and BeckyJack's Food Shack, looks like a shack, but the food is great. Nearby is Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, undergoing rennovations but worth a visit, Pine Island, a small beach and a great place to watch Gulf sunsets, and Homosassa Springs, a wildlife park. The area is without the hustle and bustle of a lot of Florida. We found it very relaxing, a serene place close to nature with a taste of old Florida.
