I lived in St Petersburg Florida in the mid 1970's and moved back in 1999. I have a vacation rental in St Petersburg and recently purchased this home in Weeki Wachee Gardens. I love it here. It is like stepping back in time to 'Old Florida' where life was much slower and the backyard is full of nature. Fish jumping constantly in front of the house. We have a pair of otters that swim by and say hello. Manatees and sometimes dolphins swim right in front of the house. Fish or throw out a crab trap for blue crabs right in front of the house. It is a fabulous corner location and so very quiet. The water is smooth as glass and reflects the trees, the sun/sunset colors of the sky and the moon. See picture of sun deck to see the reflecting trees. It is mesmerizing.

Susan Boyle purchased this house in 2012

This home is on a culdasac that ends at the waterway. It is a corner lot that has water on both sides. It has two docks one 14' and the other 16' for you to fish from, crab for blue crabs, sit on and watch the wildlife or just enjoy the waterfront. Bring your own boat and dock it here. Parking for your RV. Sleeps up to 8 people with a queen bed in master bedroom, two twin beds in split plan 2nd bedroom with half bath, sofa bed, and trundle day bed that can be two twin beds or one king bed. Main full bath in hall, 2.5 baths total. Has washer dryer, dishwasher, side-by-side fridge with water dispenser, microwave, coffee maker, toaster over, crock pot, blender, propane barbecue and all the other kitchen necessities. Linens and towels as well as beach towels provided. Cable TV with wireless internet access. TV in living room and also in both bedrooms. 2 canoes provided with paddles and life jackets.

Waterfront with direct access to Weeki Wachee River and Gulf of Mexico. Comes with 2 canoes, paddles, life jackets, crab trap, bamboo fishing pole, outdoor seating. Quiet riverside community with everything very nearby in Spring Hill only 10 minutes away. North is Chassahowtitzka /Homosassa/Homosassa Springs/Crystal River/Rainbow River; Tampa and Orlando less than 1 hour away; Gulf Beach 10 minutes away; great location.

GREAT FOR KIDS!

  • 5 of 5
Two adults and four kids enjoyed the many kyacks, canoes, and even a paddleboat this charming little doublewide has to offer. The house is right on the corner of a canal meandering its way to the gulf through overhanging trees and vistas of ferns, manatees, good ole boys, etc. Take Me To The River is perfect for a larger family with the Master being separate from the other rooms. Screened porches galore and owner is extremely accommodating. A great place to stay and come back to in the future!

FAMILY FUUUUUUUN!!!

  • 5 of 5
For the past 7 years I have rented several vacation homes from Florida to North Carolina, I have learned that I want to rent a home that is similar to my home and not a museum. This house is just that! Very clean, comfortable and liveable. A place where children can be children.

The property was clean and well-maintained and the listing photos were very accurate.

Susan (the owner) thought of everything. She was very easy to work with, so I will recommend this house to everyone.

Wildlife: When we arrived a manatee was swimming near the docks. We were wowed! Then the next day we had a snowy ibis visit us on the deck...lots of pictures and sketching.

Docks: The two docks are a great asset to the house. Our grandchildren (9 & 5) loved using the rope swing and jumping from the dock several hours each day while the adults sat on the other one. Plenty of places to tie up our kayaks which we totally felt safe leaving them in the water. We only took out one of the house's canoes (1-man) which was just as fun as our kayaks.

Roomy: The house was very roomy. The kids slept in the bedroom with the twin beds and the 1/2 bath. This room was perfectly situated in the house because it was far enough away from the main living area where the adults played board games far into the night without distrubing the children.

Kitchen: The kitchen was very roomy, with lots of cupboards, counter space, pots/pans, plates, silverware, etc. I especially liked the bar 6 + stools to sit on, so we never pulled out the dining table. I made the mistake of packing a few kitchen items, but I didn't need them because the kitchen is very, very equipped.

Outdoors: There is no other place in Florida that provides such a varied array of outdoor adventures. We paddled up the river and there are numerous shallow places to pull off and swim. You can freshwater fish off the docks or take a short ride and do some salt-water fishing at Bayport, Jenkins Creek or Hernando Beach. If you want to go to a beach you have 2 options, Rogers Park (on the river) or Pine Island (salt water).

This property brought back many fond memories of growing up on the Weeki Wachee, so take break from the mundane and visit this river, because as words of the old Mermaid song goes, "Weeki Wachee is the place to be..." and it is!

RELAXATION!

  • 5 of 5
My family, all 8 of us, stayed here for the weekend and had a wonderful time! We fished, kayaked, bbq'd, swam, painted, and had many laughs! After a long day on the river, this was the perfect spot to kick back and relax. The house was cute and comfortable, and we felt right at home. The kids enjoyed swimming off the docks and kayaking. Thank you so much for helping create lifelong memories! We had such a great time and look forward to making this a new family tradition!

MANATEE HEAVEN!

  • 5 of 5
My family had a one week stay at the river house and we loved it! The house has a perfect corner location on a canal leading out to the main river. Every day we were greeted by a mama manatee and her baby in the crystal clear water by the dock, who enjoyed eating heads of romaine lettuce while we enjoyed photographing them! The water was a bit too cold, otherwise we would have jumped in with them. Other wildlife was abundant as well. Bird feeders in the yard drew morning doves, cardinals and finches. Hummingbirds and woodpeckers, along with egrets and cranes visited daily. Ducks came looking for bread in the morning, and squirrels welcomed us with their chatter while we sipped coffee on the screened porch overlooking the water. My son fished day and night. The spacious yard allowed us nightly corn hole games as the mullet jumped in the water next to us. Our daily canoe and kayak expeditions took us to every nook and crany of the beautiful river rolling with manatees (literally since it was mating season!). Our house was spotless and made us feel right at home. The kitchen was well stocked as was the rest of the house. Every need was anticipated and met! We were so pleased that the owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. A highlight was the amply stocked paint , art easels and canvases available for our use. We all painted a masterpiece while there. Within walking distance was The Upper Deck where we enjoyed Slammin' Slaw Wings and live entertainment. Also the public beach/park where my son met some new friends. We rented a boat one day and ventured out to the flats and the gulf. It was a photographer's dream. On our last night we wandered over to Swainee's where we had fresh seafood right off of the boats docked in back and enjoyed Marty's (the owner) amazing voice and musical talent on the piano and guitar. I have rented several times before on the Weeki Wachee river, but this has been my favorite location by far. Thank you Susan for your hospitality and care! We are already planning our next visit!!!

WATERFRONT PARADISE

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I just finished a two-week stay here and we loved every minute of it. The house is clean, comfortable and well-appointed and exactly as described in the listing. It is whimsically decorated with a host of animal figures and signs, giving it a friendly, warm and happy aura. The house sits at the intersection of two canals, one of which connects to the Weeki Wachee River. Visitors included manatees, otters, turtles and a wide array of birds. Two canoes and all necessary equipment are available for paddling around on the canals and river. We did not fish off the docks, but you can if you wish to do so. We had really good meals at The Upper Deck, a local bar right on the river, La Bella Napoli, a terrific Italian place, and BeckyJack's Food Shack, looks like a shack, but the food is great. Nearby is Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, undergoing rennovations but worth a visit, Pine Island, a small beach and a great place to watch Gulf sunsets, and Homosassa Springs, a wildlife park. The area is without the hustle and bustle of a lot of Florida. We found it very relaxing, a serene place close to nature with a taste of old Florida.

AWESOME RIVER EXPERIENCE -SAW MANATEES, OTTERS, TURTLES N BIRDS

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed here for one week and had a fantastic time. The house was very comfortable and we really enjoyed the screen in porch right next to the water. We saw a momma manatee and her baby swim by as well as a pair of otters, turtles and lots of birds. We took the two canoes provided out on the river and swam and enjoyed the easy paddle both up and down river. The river scenery is to die for. The water is so clear you can see the sandy bottom and all the fish and turtles and manatees in it very easily. The house had everything and was super clean. The back room has all kinds of arts and crafts and my kids and I painted pictures. We also went to nearby Homossassa Springs, Crystal River-cave diving, Tampa Busch Gardens, and one day in Orlando at Harry Potter Park. We had a blast.
