Guestbook comments from the owner
The Solano House was perfect for us! We had a group of 5 and the sleeping arrangements were great and the place is very spacious and clean. It's great location in Sonoma let you be at any location within minutes (and thanks for having the wine country maps there too!). Will definitely plan to stay here again for our next trip!

Nancy and Linda have been friends for more than 20 years, and have just purchased The Solano House together. Nancy lives in Sonoma and works in the wine industry, so can give you all the inside scoop on the best places to visit. Linda lives in Denver and works at the University of Colorado.

Linda Carlin purchased this house in 2012

We bought this house because of it's unique design and great location!

The house feels like it's in the country, even though it's right in downtown Sonoma. There are large windows throughout that overlook a peaceful garden in the back and a tree-lined street in the front.

A HIDDEN GEM

  • 5 of 5
Tucked away just west of Sonoma town, this house is neat but somewhat unassuming from the street. But it is something entirely different on the inside where everything is new, crisp, light and airy.

It is, to be sure, better for two couples and a child as the third bed is a single on an upper loft overlookiing the living room (loved by our 11-year old granddaughter) and there is not really a place for a sixth person. A tiny bunk in the reading room might sleep a small child, although it became the 11-year olds hideaway and it was perfect for her to read her Harry Potter for the third time.

That said, this house is professional done in virtually every detail from the exceptionally well-equipped kitchen the stocked fridge with fruit, cheese and condiments to a loaf of great, local bread.

There is not a lot of outside space, but the deck in the backyard was all we needed. And while you are not right in town, that is no problem since the inviting Sonoma Plaza is just minutes away. We would rent this place again in a heartbeat.

SONOMA HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
We spent a wonderful month in this lovely home where we were welcomed by our host with a nice assortment of fruit, cheese and wine. The house is nicely furnished and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the sunny and cozy breakfast nook. There is a nice, private back yard with lovely plantings and comfortable deck. Our host was excellent. She really made us feel comfortable and at home.

PERFECT COMFORTABLE HOME

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here with our 5 month old son and my in-laws. The house was perfect for us. Plenty of room and they even had a pack and play for our son to sleep in! My in-laws are VRBO experts and were very impressed with all the attention to detail for guests- lots of visitor information, wine, cheese, fruit, coffee AND cream.

Thanks again for making our stay so pleasant.

GREAT SONOMA HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
The owners went to great lengths to host us in their home, treating us as friends, not renters. The house was beautiful and spacious and had everything we could need. It was refreshing to be met with wine, cheese, and grapes, instead of a list of "don'ts" for the house.

PERFECT VACATION HOME

  • 5 of 5
Very well equipped home with everything you could need and a nice welcoming gift of fresh fruit and cheese. Had my parents (in their 70's) sister, spouse and dog with more then ample room. Very quiet neighbourhood located close to all amenities. Would love to return annually.

IMMACULATE, LOVELY PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this spotless, perfectly appointed house just a couple minute's drive to the Square (I actually walked to the nearby Whole Foods - easy). The place was comfortable and clean and the thoughtful owners were helpful and welcoming while totally unobtrusive. They have provided everything needed in the kitchen and overall, without any clutter to get in the way. Thank you for providing an ideal place to stay while we visited Sonoma! One other bonus - while we were glad we could bring our 2 dogs, there was NO sign of any previous pet visitor - it is THAT clean!
