About Tim Rodgers

Riverside Retreat was built in 2005 and was our residence until 2012. We are making it available for others to enjoy. It sits on a bluff directly on the Mountain Fork River which is a very quiet river with beautiful rock formations on the property. We now live back in Mena to be closer to family.

Why Tim Rodgers chose Mena

It is such a peaceful, relaxing place to be. You'll feel it as soon as you turn off the highway and begin the path down the tree-lined county road. At the top of our driveway, there is a view of Rich Mountain. On a clear night, you can see the lights of the lodge. At the bottom of the driveway awaits your peaceful getaway - surrounded by trees and overlooking a gorgeous section of the Mountain Fork River. On the back deck, you are among the treetops that rise from the bluff. The cabin was built to provide amenities for a romantic couples getaway or honeymoon but will sleep a family of four.

What makes this cabin unique

Imaculate & clean cabin new to the rental market in 2012, located on a bluff directly overlooking the Mountain Fork River. Beautiful view from 12’ x 32’ deck on back of cabin plus a lower deck by river with built-in bench. All wood interior trimmed in cedar w/tile & laminate flooring - no carpet. Access to river for canoeing or fishing. We have a canoe, paddles, & life jackets available for use at no additional charge.

From Mena go 10 miles south on Hwy 71 to Hatfield turn West on Hwy 246 go 3 miles and turn right onto Polk 153. Cabin is 2 miles off of Hwy 246 which is unpaved.

Wonderful Weekend

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at the Riverside Retreat cabin. We loved the seclude setting on the river and the use of the canoe was an added bonus. The cabin was very clean and everything worked great. When we weren't relaxing at the cabin, we enjoyed browsing shops in Mena. We ate a delicious supper at The Chopping Block in Mena and also enjoyed a beautiful drive and sunset on Talimena Drive. Thanks again for a wonderful weekend and we'll definitely tell our family and friends about this place!

My husband and I went to the cabin for my birthday. We had a camp fire every night. We seen quite a bit of critters. The cabin is very secluded and right on the river. The river is calm and full of fish. There was just about everything you could need for cooking. I did have to go and get I wine glass as I am somewhat of a wine snob and can't drink wine out of a tumbler. Other than that there was everything I could have asked for in a kitchen. We went to Wolf Pen Gap and rode our ATVs and had a blast!. If you stay here and you get a chance you should take a trip on scenic Hwy 88, it is very beautiful. My family stays in cabins at least 2-3 times a year and I would say that this is the most romantic cabin I have ever stayed in. It would be great for a family of 4 as well as there are twin beds in the loft. If you want to go fishing don't forget to bring your own tackle. The fishing rods are available but you need tackle. Also there is a canoe you can use. We didn't use it but my kids would certainly have a lot of fun with it. You can't go wrong with this place. I highly recommend it. Kim and Cliff.

Quiet Get Away

The cabin is immaculate and nicely appointed. If you are looking for a peaceful rural setting, then this cabin is an excellent choice. We had an enjoyable stay at this cabin; we found it to be exactly like it is represented on this site.

Our anniversary stay at your cabin was wonderful. I was a little hesitant because I'm not a woodsy type but my husband has never gone wrong in planning a trip. Once we got there, I LOVED it. The peace and quiet was just what we needed to get away from our busy and hectic lives. I could have stayed a few more days and was reluctant to leave. We loved that it was fully stocked with anything that we may need (dishes, appliances, towels, sheets, etc.) We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for offering your quiet haven in the woods to us.

Wonderful getaway

My husband and I stayed in this cabin for our 7th anniversary. Even though there was bad weather I have nothing but good things to say. The cabin was cozy and comfortably furnished. We enjoyed drinking our coffee in the morning on the screened in porch watching it rain, and we snuggled on the couch in the evenings with a fire and a movie going. It was absolutely wonderful and we can not wait until the chance to do it again.
