ORIGINAL 16TH CENTURY SARACEN TOWER, A FEW MINUTES DRIVE FROM THE ADRIATIC SEA

Ostuni Villa Rental Photos and Description

5 Bedrooms, 5 shower rooms, 20m x 4m private swimming pool, wi-fi connection

In 2007 a Belgian couple discovered the hidden treasure of Torre Uliveto, a Saracen Tower hidden in the Olive Groves of Carovigno, Ostuni and close to the sea.

Originally it was a sea control watch tower for the soldiers of the Feud and Castle of Carovigno and dates back to the 16th century.

In 2008 the extensive and kind restoration of the tower, which had been abandoned for centuries, took place.

The following year a villa extension was started as the owners wanted Torre Uliveto to become a summer residence for their families and friends.

In 2012 this spectacular property, which is set peacefully amongst 1.5 hectares of olive trees and has sea views, will be available to rent.

Comfortably accommodating 10 people in 5 bedrooms and 5 shower rooms.

There is also a sofa bed in the living area for another 2 people.

Just a few minutes drive to the coast (1.5km) where you will find beautiful beaches or you can relax beside the 20m x 4m swimming pool.

Suitability:
  • pets considered
  • children welcome
  • unsuitable for elderly or infirm
  • wheelchair inaccessible

A fantastic holiday

We have rented a lot of different accommodations for our holidays through the years, but the Saracen tower Uliveto in Puglia is something very special. It has a unique atmosphere that we experienced with our three adult children, their friends and our grandson for two weeks. The historic tower is complemented by a typical local extension so that there is enough room for ca.10 people.
The house decor is suitable, the decoration is nice, typical, tasteful and convenient, the equipment is useful but without luxury. According to our style and demand is was perfect.
Admittedly the mattresses were a bit too soft for us. And we were lucky to have good weather every day and therefore could sit outside for breakfast and dining always. Otherwise it would become rather cosy and snug because the seats inside are limited.
The house has a large garden with olive trees, herbs, lavender and vegetables that we were even allowed to harvest. Magnificent.
The swimming pool is new, clean, well constructed, nicely placed and integrated in the garden, frequently maintained and because of its 20 mtr. length perfect for swimming – and enough meters away from the house which is reassuring and safer if you travel with little children!
All in all we felt absolutely comfortable at the Torre Uliveto, for us is was a really perfect destination in every sense..
The house's location is ideal for excursions in all directions. We have i. a. visited Bari, Monopoli, Ostuni, Matera, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Brindisi, Lecce, Otranto - impressive towns with nice South Italian atmosphere.
We would particularly like to mention the friendly reception by Susan Gardner, who manages the house and was accessible as our contact person on site at all times and took care of everything carefully. Dear Susan, many thanks for that specially!
For us Puglia was a new discovery of a special kind: beautiful landscapes, picturesque towns, nice people, good food, delicious wines, ideal temperatures - in short: a fantastic holiday for the whole family. Hopefully we'll be back soon ....

Torre Uliveto - a lovely place in friendly Puglia

We spent a week in Torre Uliveto, and the whole family (6 adults and 4 children) had a really good time in the house. We were warmly welcomed by Susan who provided excellent service during the week. The old tower was exciting (the low-roofed toilet in the ground floor made us feel like Harry Potter living in Privet Drive, though we didn`t see any Dursleys...). The garden was beautiful with flowers, herbs and vegetables - we still miss the scent of lavendar. The pool was fantastic for both adults and children, suitable for both sports and fun.
The equipment in the kitchen could have been better (the knifes were useless), we did not see any DVD player and some places in the house were a bit dusty. Still, the total impression of the house was very charming in a rustic way. The house is located near Carovigno and Ostuni as well as many nice beaches. The local people are nice and friendly, and we were lucky to visit Puglia in the low season so we didn`t have to travel along with that many tourists. All in all we had a great time, and we would highly recommend wonderful Torre Uliveto and Puglia. The rate is 4++!

This must be Paradise

In May my husband and I spent one week in Torre Ulivetto together with our children and grandchildren. We all enjoyed our stay very very much . The weather was excellent and we spent a lot of time in and around the fantastic swimming pool. Even our granddaughter of three years old had a lot of fun in the water.
The shower in the house is warm enough when you know how to use it. Which means that you need to
push the little button and turn the tap further and then the water is warmer
The magnificent house is very spacious and wonderful decorated . We all fell in love with the old tower
which is renovated with love and care. The pictures in the advertisement give a perfect impression of it
all but the reality is much better. The villa is surrounded by a huge garden with all kinds of flowers and old olive trees. From the roof of the house and tower as well as from the garden you can enjoy the wonderful sea view.
The area of Puglia is amazing and the local people are very friendly. There are several nice beaches and
lots of old villages to visit like Ostuni for instance. When you don’t want to make your own diner than
you can find restaurants everywhere in the small villages and at the seaside. Good quality for very good price.
We visited the Grotte di Castellana (one hour drive) and that was a great experience. Even our grandchildren liked it. We were overwhelmed by it and we can recommend it.
Now that we are back home again we miss the sun, the wine and the lovely meals on the terrace. To
wake up every morning with the sun shining, the lovely colors and smells off the garden…………………..
We hope to come back again soon.

A very relaxing and beautiful place for holidays

My wife and I spent a week at Torre Ulivetto last August with a group of 8 friends and were delighted by the experience.

It is a very quiet and beautiful place, well located between Ostuni, Carovigno and Torre Santa Sabina. The building is decorated with taste. It includes an ancient Byzantine watch tower, now with full modern comfort, and an added more recent part, where most of the rooms are situated. The swimming pool is a delight (20 metres long!) and we especially liked the artistically carved reclining chairs. The property is filled with olive and other fruit trees, as well as a few big cactuses, which give it an exotic touch.

Everything was very clean and functionning. The real estate agency is also very responsive.

At short distance, the most sparkling is Ostuni, definitely worth an evening or two. We also liked Lecce, and further away, Matera and its troglodite city. Several good beaches are also to be found at reasonable distance.

One of our best experiences in Italy, *****. We will definitely try to goback.

Puglia : What a discovery

Hi this is Pierre-Emile from Geneva.
What a discovery - What a great region Puglia in the heel of Italy.
Every single member of our party of 10 people is still today very much happy with our stay in Torre Uliveto. We are used to rent a holiday home but we are still impressed by the warm and friendly welcome by Susan and how profesionally she assisted us during the whole week.
The historic tower gives us enough input for our phantasy and to imagine how it must have been up there centuries ago.
The tower is having two suite rooms all in respect of the original architecture.
And the new villa is really what I had always imagined as a real holdiday home for the dolce farniente.
All in white, large spacious and cool rooms with basic and simple tasteful decoration. Our compliments to the owners or the decorators of this property.
The whole day you can stay around the house and the pool, and you only need your flip-flops, a swimming suit, a T shirt or a pareo.
Have you ever seen such a big swimming pool. I am a real swimmer and every day in the morning and the evening I could do my lenghts.
I always wondered how the pool could be so clean, but then one day when I was up very early I discovered that every day at 6h00 two men came for the maintenance of the pool. Waw!!
What we did not know or what we could not imagine is that the Puglia region is so rich for visiting. You do not like to stay around the pool the whole season? Then there is so much to visit for culture and architecture in the region that a full month would not be sufficient. Not to speak about the wonderful beaches around, Torre Uliveto is also ideally situated for all your excursions because it is very central.
The stunning white city of Ostuni is the perfect scene for your outside dining with great restaurants and lounge bars.
we were very happy with our choice of Torre Uliveto and we really hope we will be able to come back next year.
Regards from Pierre-Emile
