This is a one of a kind opportunity for those who love the outdoors and nature. Walk out the front door and there is the famous Brule River in your front yard. A five minute drive down the road brings you to the shores of beautiful Lake Superior and the mouth of the Brule River.
This historic piece of property was homesteaded in 1893 with the current house being built in 1947. This well kept, clean four bedroom home offers three bedrooms upstairs and one on the main floor, with a full size bed in each. The main floor has a quarter size bath with a full bath upstairs.
The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, bakeware, tableware, utensils and offers a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. There is a gas grill available for your use.
The living room has a TV with cable installed. Local phone service is available for emergencies and is capable of accepting all incoming calls. Outgoing calls can only be local unless you have a call card. Internet services are provided April through October.
No linens are provided. While all of the beds have a mattress protector and a clean fitted sheet, renters will need to bring their own pillows, sleeping bags, blankets, etc. Towels, washcloths, dishcloths, also, are not provided. Throughout the home are beautiful terrazo floors... bringing slippers is always a good idea.
You will love the peace and quiet this property has to offer. The soothing sounds of the river will relax you as you sit on the covered front porch and take in the beauty of this secluded setting.

This is the second stay for my fishing group. The house is a step back in time. It's like my Grandmother's house. It's very clean and comfortable. Nice kitchen. Only house I've ever seen in the Midwest with terazzo floors on the ground and upstairs!. The people who own the house are just down the lane and access to the river is easy.
A beautiful retreat on the magnificent Brule River. A very tranquil location. The property and accommodations were clean and orderly. Everything you could have needed was supplied in the kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and my family would certainly recommend this rental location.
We had another wounderful stay at this property! We stayed three days this time and would have stayed longer... next time.
Our focus was Kayaking on the Brule. Need more time to just sit and enjoy the surroundings.
We had the most relaxing and delightful time at this back in time cottage by the Brule River. This was our 12th annual girls weekend. We enjoyed an art project on the big porch, visited Lake Superior just down the road, and two in our party took our kayaks down the river for a 2 hr trip. No linens was not the standard VRBO expectation, but it wasn't that big of a deal. It would be nice if kayaks were included.
We just returned from our return visit to McNeil's. We appreciate that things are as described. The home is clean and the kitchen is WELL furnished. The home is peaceful, quaint and reminiscent of days gone by. I appreciate the quick responses from management and the kayaking on the Brule is awesome!
This is in a wonderful location! It's not your typical modern north woods lodge or cabin. More like staying at Grandma's old farm. Dishes are antiques, everything's old or a bit worn, but that adds to the charm. Porch door handle doesn't work though. Only complaint I have is that ad says it sleeps 8 but there are only 4 beds, so unless your group is 4 couples, it's a bit awkward. I slept on the porch. Great location for kayaking, fishing, evening campfires and dining outside. Spacious property includes a pumpkin patch, giant white pines and apple trees. Beach at mouth of Brule on Lake Superior is recommended. No nearby restaurants, better to stay there and enjoy your meals.
