My name is Kelly and I live in Charlotte, NC. I'm a hard-working, peace-loving individual who enjoys the serenity of the mountains. I am a private owner and maintain the property myself, with personal care and interest. I come from a large family and always appreciate a sense of family among friends. I'm sure that you, like everyone who visits, will absolutely love and cherish the time you spend at my mountain cabin!

J Kelly Scherer purchased this cabin in 1996

My mountain cabin is a rare find and one that I plan to keep for many years of enjoyment. The cabin is gorgeous, immaculate, serene, and lacks for nothing. It is located just outside of Asheville, NC, one of America's coolest towns. While just 10 miles from downtown, it sits on a mountainside that looks out across multiple ridges of mountains and valleys dotted with farmland and estates. It has the best of all worlds - private in its location, and close to everything that Asheville has to offer!

My mountain cabin is at the end of a private road, perched high on a mountainside, with unobstructed year-round views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its open floor plan and peaceful setting make it perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Blue Ridge. The house is immaculately clean and tidy.

Wonderful mountain vacation home

  • 5 of 5
My husband, two adult children and I had a wonderful stay at Top of the Line. The house was in excellent condition, very clean and well stocked with all necessities. The owner was very reactive to questions and needs. He provided local tourist information and brochures. Our trip included white water rafting, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway for the view and seeing many wonderful waterfalls. We visited the Biltmore which was well worth the fee. Also need to rent the audio recorders...makes the visit that much more interesting. The Asheville Chamber of Commerce was a wealth of information. We had a new experience with no cable/tv/news; however, the house has plenty of movies and the sound system was incredible. The home owner is open to pets, but if you plan to really see the area, you will be gone for most of the day. We were glad we did not bring our young golden retriever. I would most definitely recommend this house.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! I enjoyed hosting you and your family; and thank you for taking such good care of my cabin. It seems you had great mountain weather – I'm sure it was a welcome break from Florida heat!

You mentioned that it was a new experience being without cable tv; I'm happy you found other things to do! The reason there's no tv service is because cable does not run all the way up the mountain, and there is not a clear view of the southern sky needed for satellite. (The cable company is considering running cable up to the cabin, but as of this writing, that is not yet the case. I will update the listing if/when cable tv service is added.)

However, it may be important to know this if you're considering staying at this cabin and live tv is critical to you. If so, I'd honestly advise you to search for a better fit.

I personally find that not having cable or satellite tv helps me to "unplug" and breakaway from the ordinary. Instead, I generally listen to music or watch a DVD on the awesome TV and sound system at the cabin, sit outside on the deck and stargaze, soak in the hot tub, play games, do puzzles, enjoy conversation, or just sit and read.

Thanks again for your stay and kind review. Please come back!

Perfect Mountain Escape close to Asheville, Waterfalls, and National Parks

  • 5 of 5
We loved our stay at this beautiful mountain home. It is the perfect location to feel isolated on a mountain retreat but also convenient to grocer and Asheville's top rated restaurants and shopping areas. In 4 short days, we were able to visit the Smoky Mountains, Maggie Valley, two gem mines, Pisgah and DuPont Forests, drive the Blue Ridge Mountains, pick fresh fruit at local farms, and much more. The house is well equipped with comfortable beds, soft linens and towels, great sound system, puzzles and games, and a relaxing hot tub. The owner went above and beyond. He had the house ready for us with only 24 hour notice, provided detailed directions and was available for any questions that arose! We recommend restaurants Homegrown, Plant, SunnyPoint Cafe, and Early Girl Eatery, all just 15-20 minutes from the house in Asheville. As with most mountain homes, the drive is a bit steep and curvy but we had no trouble arriving in our Prius V. We hope to stay here again. Thanks again Kelly!

Beyond Expectations

  • 5 of 5
This beautiful home has it all. The house is very clean and comfortable. The views are spectacular. It is so serene and yet you are only 15 minutes from all the fun Asheville has to offer. I loved that you could get to a grocery store in 5 minutes. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. The beds are very comfortable. The jacuzzi was such a great bonus. We will definitely be back!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful comments! I also appreciated so much how you helped maintain the cleanliness of the house -- keeping a clean home is important to me. The grocery store you mention is indeed just 5 minutes away. And, it is a nice, new and very large store that is literally on the way to the cabin, making stops there very convenient. Thanks again for your stay, I'm so happy you felt at home. Please come again!

We enjoyed our stay in this cabin very much. The location is perfect with a great view of postcard-like countryside hills. Although there are cabins nearby, this one is surrounded by forest which made our group feel really away from it all. Now, the drive to downtown Asheville is just about 15 minutes, so we could go to restaurants and spend some time in town. (Recommended: Curate and Dobra's Tea house). The hot tub on the deck is great too. And it is nicely decorated, clean, and has more than the basic needs for cooking. I would definitely return. The owner is a very nice person and answered calls at any time we needed.

Beautiful Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this beautiful cabin over Christmas week and couldn't have been happier with the cabin itself or the beautiful location and views. There were 4 of us including our 2 twenty-something children, and we all felt it was a wonderful way to spend the holiday. The house is beautifully furnished, beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped - even for Christmas dinner (!), gas fireplace was perfect - making everything cozy in cold weather, and the hot tub with views of the mountains was a luxury! We love the mountains and this was truly a place that made us feel at home. Kelly, the owner, was a wonderful host. He made sure we had what we need and the house was well stocked with essentials. He checked in with us to see how we were doing and welcomed any questions we had. This was an overall perfect vacation in a prefect cabin - we highly recommend it!

This beautiful cabin is located just 10 easy miles from downtown Asheville - so close that you can drop in to the city in minutes. But, what is so amazing is that, while the mountain cabin lies just outside of Asheville, its peace and serenity feels like you're miles from anywhere. So, plan to spend some time at the cabin relaxing in its luxurious accommodations, peace and beauty.

But, you'll also be glad you're so close to Asheville because it is one of America’s gems! Asheville enjoys a beautiful setting, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a temperate climate, and a tolerant, diverse people. Asheville has a thriving arts community, numerous outstanding restaurants, local wineries and breweries, year-round festivals, and a multitude of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, rock-climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and sightseeing.

America’s Largest Home, the Biltmore Estate is only 13 miles away! It is absolutely amazing to behold, and its popularity is well-deserved.

The Blue Ridge Parkway, one of America’s most scenic drives winds through Asheville to Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain in the eastern United States.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is only 30 minutes from the cabin. It is America's most visited national park, and the United Nations has designated Great Smoky Mountains National Park as an International Biosphere Reserve. The Great Smoky Mountains are among the oldest mountains in the world, formed 200-300 million years ago with an unmatched biodiversity.

There is so much to do in and around Asheville, you'll honestly wish you could spend more time here. But one thing that's certain, you'll enjoy every moment you spend at this beautiful and relaxing mountain cabin.
