In our 25 years of marriage, we have always loved entertaining our friends in an inviting environment with good food, good drink, and great conversation. We love creating the party, and that's something we hope to do with Three Oaks Cottage. While we won't be there to share it with you, we hope that we've created a home that feels warm and wonderful, a welcome respite from everyday life, for you to enjoy, savor, and long to return to.

Colleen Newquist and Michael Weiss purchased this cottage in 2012

Driving home from a 25th anniversary weekend in Saugatuck, MI, we stopped in Three Oaks. Over breakfast at Viola Cafe, we soaked in the small-town charm and said to each other, 'We love this town.' We'd visited a few times before, falling more in love with it each time. Being who we are, we pulled out our phones and searched realty online. We found Three Oaks Cottage for sale, just down the street. We called a realtor, visited, and it immediately felt like home. We made an offer on the spot. The cottage, like the town, is warm and inviting, with lots of character. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

The lush and thriving front garden drew us to Three Oaks Cottage. The front porch with its vintage-style glider and the screen door that sounds like summertime delighted us further; the sunny kitchen made us want to start to cooking for friends. But what we perhaps love most is the easy accessibility to all things Harbor Country. We can walk to everything in town, yet in just a few blocks, we're walking among cornstalks. Hop in the car, and we're just 10 minutes from the stunning lakeftont at Warren Dunes; 10 minutes in the opposite direction and we're in Four Winds Casino. There's so much to explore, and Three Oaks Cottage is perfectly situated to do so.

JUST BEAUTIFUL

  • 5 of 5
This home is beautiful, the décor is so unique, something different everywhere you look, love the stained glass windows. We enjoyed relaxing the country front porch and on the back deck. The home was clean and the beds were comfortable. We rented the home for a wedding that took place at the Acorn Theater and the Journeyman's Distillery, it was just a two minute walk.

I coud not wait until Monday for my review. Thank you for a wonderful adventure. I thought my stay in 3 Oaks could not be topped last year. Wrong. This place is wonderful. Just a short stroll to the downtown area makes this a must place to stay. The house has all the ammenities one could want. Great beds. Super bathroom. Love the tube and shower.Very eclectic art. Gave me ideas for my own home decor. The kitchen was very functional. We were going to grill out but I was stung by a wasp and decided to stay in and use the kitchen. If you are coming for events at the Acorn theater or downtown it is the best place. We went to New Buffalo Saturday and is only a few short miles. Went to wineries on Sunday and antique shops. Plan on returning this fall fo another event at the Acorn and to see the colors. Love fall. There are wonderful restuarants. Nelson's has the best burgers and Viola's is a must for breakfast. The distillery is very nice and a great way to learn about whiskey. Loved the new museum near the Acorn Theatre as well as the Bicycle museum. All of the people were friendly and helpful. These folks love their town.

WEDDING PARTY

Taking a rental sight unseen for three nights, what a gamble for what we hoped to be a dream weekend of wedding festivities. We found the 'cottage' charming, clean and nicely located. I'm looking for an excuse to come again.

COMFY AND COZY

When we plan a getaway, our priority is to find unique places to stay. It is a mystery to us why anyone would choose a hotel/motel. You spend about the same amount either way but the experiences are so different. This cottage is a winner. The lovely garden, the unique decor, comfy beds and pillows and the sense that the owners took great care in their home. The owners are people who I would love to meet to ask questions about the art and artifacts that they have used to decorate the cottage.
The village of Three Oaks is footsteps away and has a little of something for everyone. Surprisingly good menu at Viola Cafe. Make sure you get a piece of homemade pie or cake. Nelson's Tavern has juicy burgers and French fries or onion rings. We caught a movie at the Vicker Theatre. If you love antiques, Triology and Ipso Facto are musts. Beautifully curated unique pieces. Take a tour at Jorneyman Distillery. We couldn't resist buying their Apple Cider Liqueur.
A short drive in any direction will bring you to a multitude of things to do and see. Stay here, it's a must if you want to experience small town living and escape the hustle and bustle of your daily life.
