Located just minutes from dining and shopping in Rapid City and from the many attractions of the Black Hills region, this home provides an ideal setting for your South Dakota vacation.
We are retired and enjoy an active lifestyle of traveling, hiking.
Phyllis Noteboom purchased this house in 1997
Rapid City has a mild climate and is a gateway to the beautiful Black Hills region of South Dakota. Our home is at the edge of the city so it is just 10 minutes from shopping and city services but is even less to beautiful outdoors and vacation locations. The Bad Lands are approx. 1 hr. away.
We love the open spaces of western South Dakota. We also enjoy the country setting.
Our family stayed three nights in the Black Hills area of South Dakota visiting Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, The Bad Lands, and several local museums. The location provided a central location for these outings. We made use of the well equipped kitchen preparing our meals and eating outside on the deck. The local Wall-Mart was a 5 min drive, so getting groceries and supplies was very convenient. We enjoyed observing the deer and wild turkey feeding in the back yard.
We found the property in good condition, clean and just like it is advertized. The owners kept good communications with us before and during the rental time to ensure that everything was in good repair. Other reviewers mentioned the welcome gift, which we received as well, and is a great testimony to the owners. We would like to extend our appreciation, gratitude and thanksgiving to the owners for sharing their home with our family and for helping to make great memories for the them. The rental was a great value for us, enhancing our relationships, observing nature, sharing meals, competitive games, and relaxing moments with plenty of sunshine.
We had a wonderful stay in Rapid City! The owners were so kind and accommodating and the home is very comfty! The home was very clean, has a wonderful deck to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. Location was great. We enjoyed all the sites in and around Rapid City. Driving around the town is very easy and the people are all friendly. The restaurants that were recommended by the owners were great. And of course, Mount Rushmore's majesty is a sight to see!!!
For our vacation we were looking for a home that was near the black hills attractions and was affordable. WOW this home exceeded our expectations. Very comfortable ,lots of room, everything that we needed to have a great time. The owners, Gene and Phyllis are very hepful
Great house, great location, and super host. Gene and Phyllis's home we highly recommend. The little house warming gift was a great touch. We will be staying there again.
This home is really beautiful, much more than one can tell from the listing photos. There are 3 bed rooms and 2 baths on the main floor, and more beds in the basement plus 1 more bathroom. It would have been perfect had the garbage disposal and internet been in working condition. The driveway to the house is not easy to locate but with the owner standing by and a cell phone, it's not a problem. It is close to all attractions includes Badlands National Park (which we didn't know about until we ran out of time to visit)
The hosts Phyllis and Gene were warm and helpful. Their welcoming basket was a nice touch. Thank you both.
For almost two weeks we had the pleasure of calling this cozy property our home. There were three bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs and a bedroom as well as another bathroom downstairs. The huge deck was our favorite place to sit and have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Every evening we were treated to a wildlife show of deer with their fawns as well as wild turkeys running down the hill. If the sun was too hot, there was a lovely patio to enjoy the outdoors on the west side of the house. There was plenty of room for six adults to move around and have their own space if needed. The only drawback would be there was no internet service which did give us an excuse to grab a treat at McDonalds when we needed to check our e-mails. Phyllis did say they were planning on adding an internet service. We have rented homes in France and other parts of the United States, and this is definitely a place that I'd return to because of the comfort, cleanliness, and hospitality as well as the location. Thanks again, Phyllis and Gene!
