We fell in love with this house as newlyweds, raised two children and now a grandchild. We have loved this house for almost 3 decades. The magic of this place is undeniable and it is fun to share with other families.
Fred Bollman purchased this house in 1986
Where else can you find tidepools, the beach, and a magical forest right outside your front door?!
This is the only place I know of where you can be cooking in the kitchen or reading a book by the fireplace and still feel like you are at the beach! That is how amazing the view is.
"This neighborhood has weaved its magic spell on us. The ocean, the forest. . .we don't want to leave. Our time here was indeed breathtaking & spirit lifting all at the same time.
We stayed 7 nights and had a lovely time. Chilly winds, but lovely walks through the Reserve and great time combing through the tide pools. We enjoyed cocktails on the deck in the afternoons. Very quiet. The beds were comfortable and all of the amenities were provided. We especially liked being able to walk to and from the Moss Beach Distillery. The food and ambiance was great.
There couldn't have been a more perfect home for our birthday celebration! The views out of every window were incredible. Being so close to the preserve and the beach was such a treat and the hosts were so attentive to our needs -- it all made our stay perfect. We will definitely be back.
The Beach House at Moss Beach was a wonderful location with easy beach access. The views from the house, the cliff, and the beach were fantastic! The reserve's volunteer gave us great information when viewing the tide pools. All seven of us loved preparing breakfasts and dinners in the well equipped kitchen. The dining room table was a great place to gather for gourmet food and a fun game of Mexican train. The Distillery Restaurant was close and the lunch was delicious. The "Flying Fish Grill" in Half Moon Bay was a fabulous restaurant to meet and have a delicious lunch. We went south on 1 to enjoy the walk to view the elephant seals at Ano Nuevo. Fantastic place for retired friends to have fun and laughter!
This beautiful home exceeded our expectations! Extremely comfortable with amazing views of the ocean, cypress trees and unspoiled nature. Very spacious with a huge living space, super comfortable beds, top notch linens and towels. Very clean and bright. Close to fabulous restaurants, shops and whale watching. If you love gazing at the ocean and walking fabulous tree lined trails this is the place for you!
This is a fabulous place to sit and watch the ocean and sunset from the deck or the family room, yet steps away from a stairway to the beach and marine reserve with fabulous tide pools to explore. During the week, the reserve has docents who are a wealth of information about the reserve. The home is perfectly set up- living area upstairs with the great ocean views and bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs with cozy comfortable beds and bedding. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, glasses, pots and pans, utensils, etc. There is a long family table for everyone to sit and eat or play games. They have a fireplace to enjoy if you are so inclined. A small TV is in the family room, which we did use as the football playoffs were on that weekend, and there is plenty of seating around the TV for people to watch comfortably. A car is needed to get to the grocery store and many restaurants, although there is one that is a short walk from the home. The home has lots of brochures about local places to eat or visit. We enjoy the sushi restaurant on Main Street in Half Moon Bay, but there are many seafood restaurants in the area and most restaurants have fish/seafood on the menu. The is a place to come to again and again! It is a perfect spot to enjoy the Northern California Coast and is very close to San Francisco as well. Our family of six adults was very comfortable and we plan to return!
From the moment we stepped in the beach house and smelled fresh tuberose, we knew we were home. We dropped off our luggage in each well appointed bedroom downstairs and took the spiral oak stair case up to the most amazing panoramic view I have ever seen in a private home. We opened all the windows to let in the sound of crashing waves. It literally took 5 minutes for all of us to run down to the beach and linger well after sunset.
Next on the agenda was fish & chips & calamari at Barbara's Fish Trap - where the locals go for their fix. It was amazing. We went to bed in soft luxurious beds covered with white blankets and comforters with 600 thread count duvets. We made sure all the windows were opened and slept like babies.
We woke up to Maxwell House coffee while never my favorite was delicious while gazing at the white water waves and taking in the fresh ocean breezes. This home had everything; a waffle maker, coffee maker, All Clad pots and pans, new unopened oatmeal, white china, new silverware, and an incredible omelet pan.
A bottle of wine, a gift from the owner was left on the table with a bouquet of lilies and tuberose. We spent the day hiking the bluffs and checking out the fish tacos at the Flying Fish in Half Moon Bay. We also stopped at the Wine & Cheese Shop on Main Street which has a glorious selection of wines from all over the world with the most knowledgeable employees.
Two days is not enough. two weeks might get me to go into San Francisco which is only 25 minutes away. The best of both worlds is right here at the Seal Cove Beach House.
Steps from pristine Seal Cove Beach tide pools and the enchanting trails of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Views from this home are beautiful everywhere you look! Unobstructed white water views of the Pacific Ocean will await you every morning, watch the whales go by while you eat breakfast in the spacious dining room. Take long walks along the beach, hike the mystical trails through the reserve along the bluffs, gaze at the sleeping seals below, take a bike ride on the newly created coastal trail along side the reserve. It will be the vacation of a lifetime without going anywhere else.
