Awaken to transcendent sunrises over the Puget Sound and Mount Baker. Sip your coffee by the stone fireplace or on the private deck and breathe in wooded sea air; you've found paradise on Lummi Island.
This cozy studio cabin boasts original woodwork, a state-of-the-art kitchen, private bath and stone gas fireplace. Tuck away your car keys - with easy walking distance from the ferry dock and the Beach Store Cafe, and with bikes available for your use during your stay, the slow island life comes to you.
You may find yourself enchanted by visiting wildlife frequently seen on Lummi Island including seagulls, herons, kingfishers, eagles, seals, otter, and deer.
Low tide invites beach combing and shell collecting, as well as interraction with crab, clams and tidepool creatures along the way.
Hiking trails and nature preserves are also plentiful on the Island. Come, your island escape awaits!
I ran away from home to Sheila and David's lovely cottage, and I didn't want to leave! I will return many times again, I'm sure. This cozy studio cottage on the water is perfect for a peaceful getaway for couple or singles wishing to be in a quiet, picturesque location away from the world, yet a short commute to a city (Bellingham)with all the amenities. The cottage is nestled in tall pines, is steps from the bay and a small rock beach, and has terrific views towards the mainland. There are homes on both sides of the cottage, yet it's placed in a manner that makes you feel you're secluded from others. Your needs are well met with a fully stocked kitchen, linens, gas fireplace, covered slate patio, heated slate floor, tv and movies, and plenty of parking. The finishes are upscale, warm and comfortable, and I literally felt like I had lived there forever. Open the huge, glass patio sliders, and you really feel like you exposed to the outdoors, the beautiful views and sounds of the water. The lights dancing off the bay at night are as special as the sunrise over Mt. Baker. Grab a glass of wine, sink into the patio chairs, or the leather lounger by the fireplace, and you won't want to leave either! This is a tiny island, very sleepy, but there's plenty of casual things to do, and the locals are very helpful and friendly. Take a hike in one of the preserves (Baker was my favorite), visit the local winery, and definitely experience a meal at the Willows Inn. Book the Willows reservations several months in advance, or you won't be dining there. David and Sheila are incredibly wonderful hosts, and committed to making your stay all that you hope for. This woodsy cottage is sure to capture your heart, and you'll pat yourself on the back for choosing this little piece of heaven. Thank you, Sheila and David!
Loved this little gem of a spot right on the water on Lummi Islsnd. The cottage is 2 mins from the ferry dock. A mere 25-30 minutes from Bellingham. Beautiful property, location, view. Nice finishes throughout cottage including gas stove, gas fire, and beautiful slate shower. Cozy, relaxing, and has everything you will need to cook etc. I'm definitely going back again someday with my husband. The only thing that was a little disappointing is that the only bed is actually a hidabed. I understand its for space reasons and it is a really nice bed for a hidabed. However, hidabeds can never be as comfy as a regular bed and I woke up a bit sore because of that. Other than that, which may not be an issue for many, the place is perfect! David, the owner, was super friendly, available, and helpful!
What a beautiful spot. The cottage has great ocean views and the kitchen is perfect for preparing your own meals; the king hideaway bed is surprisingly comfortable (with great views out to the water). The cottage is minutes away from great hikes and ocean beaches. A romantic getaway spot for sure. We will be back! Thanks Sheila!
This is a perfect property for a getaway on Lummi Island. It is a beautiful studio with amazing views. It is across the street from the very popular Friday night salmon BBQ and a minute away from the ferry. The kitchen is well equipped -just be sure to grocery shop before getting on the ferry if you're planning on making your own meals. There is a small market nearby but it's very limited. The studio seems rustic but has very modern amenities and is quite comfortable.
We were very pleasantly surprised at this beautiful little cottage on the ocean. The pictures on VRBO don't do it justice, since it is even more beautiful in person. This cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway, stocked with all the amenities you need, and in a prime location. The view from the cottage is just incredible, with the amazing sunsets and sunrise, with the mountains and the ocean as a back drop. It doesn't get much better. My husband and I only got to stay for one night, and definitely would book longer the next time since once you are there, you don't want to leave. The cottage is so cozy that we spent most of our time there, which we weren't planning, but was just what the doctor ordered.
The owners are wonderful, very accommodating, very pleasant, and make sure that your stay is one to remember. We definitely recommend this place to anyone who is in need of rejuvenation and a reminder about how amazing life truly is.
This place is absolutely beautiful, and very cozy and the view is amazing. Sheila and David are very kind and welcoming people with such sweet dogs. I was a little worried at first about the sofa bed, haven't had good experiences in the past. But there was no need to worry. I can say with absolute certainty that the king size hide a bed was the most comfortable one I've ever slept on, even better than my bed at home! It was definitely hard to leave this place! Can't beat it for the price! We'll definitely be back!
Thanks again Sheila and David!
