One of a kind, Shangri-la!

Very private and serene 2.34 acres. There is a private 4 wheel drive road from the highway (about .5 miles). Panoramic coastline and ocean views...you can see the lights in Kailua-Kona at night! This 2 bedroom/1 bath house has laminate floors, granite counter tops, tile bath room. Completely off the grid with solar power/generator & catchement water. This property is a rare find and a total 'getaway' from it all. Ocean views are unobstructed and the land is a gentle slope. If you are looking for a place that is 'off the beaten bath', this is it! Enjoy the peace and quiet that this beautiful home has to offer.

If you are not familiar with 'off the grid' lifestyle, this may not be your cup of tea. Conservation habits are a must...we love Alaskans!

It is so serene! Away from it all! Breathtaking view! Just 20 minutes to Kealakekua Bay which is a sacred and beautiful place. We are privileged to enjoy it and share it with others. It is one of the main reasons we choose to purchase in South Kona. It is located approx. 1 mile south of Kona Paradise (45 minutes from the Kona airport).

This sweet pocket of historical importance, unmatched snorkeling, and onshore adventure is the most protected deep water bay in all of Hawaii. The rugged pahoehoe lava and land surrounding Kealakekua Bay include the old Hawaiian royal village Ka’awaloa where Captain Cook met his end.

The Bay’s marine life sanctuary is one of the world’s top snorkeling spots. Its pristine waters and underwater diversity including fish and coral make it a breathe-taking experience. A local pod of Hawaiian spinner dolphins is often found resting and playing in the bay. It’s not uncommon to see whales, manta rays, spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, and more.

We recommend exploring Kealakekua Bay and Hookena Bay by kayak or stand up paddle board to soak in the turquoise waters, sea life and unique history!

Our experience with Aloha Debbie and the Opihihale rental was fantastic. Debbie kept in contact with us throughout the stay. The house was clean and had all the amenities we could have wanted. The place has a rustic edge- cistern water system, solar power and the 4x4 driveway. But for the price these things were no big deal. Especially for a couple Alaskans who live this way at home. Captain Cook was just down the road for essentials and Hookena Beach and Captain Cook Monument (two excellent snorkel spots) are close as well. The view from the front porch is amazing- the perfect place to drink a beer after a long day of exploring the island.
