Timber Lodge in Moonlight Basin

Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana is one of the most beautiful places I have been fortunate enough to travel to with our entire family. Our 15-day stay was one that I will not forget anytime soon, and we took home memories to last a lifetime. We are already planning our next trip back! Timber Lodge is a beautiful property. Not sure about the ski in and ski out unless you are a cross country skier, which quite a few parked on our road and set about. We, however, we never did find the ski in/out portion of the ski trail, but drove a very short distance to Pony Express Lift. Timber Lodge was clean and beautiful decorated when we arrived. The place is very spacious, has great game and media rooms, very large dining room and spectacular view of Moonlight Basin. Big Sky Luxury Rentals would get 5 stars from me for their amazing conceirge services. They helped us plan so many wonderful adventures and meals during our stay. These are my own personal reasons/observations as to why I would not stay again at Timber Lodge: (1) The home in my option is not property maintained; (2) One of the master bedrooms which in MIL/FIL had no heating so we had to buy a heater in Bozeman - 1.5 hours away, in addition, this bedroom had major problems with the fireplace even with the vent open, smoke was so bad. Maybe the chimney needs to be cleaned because it's blocked, I don't know what, but on more than one occasion it caused problems. We could not move my FIL because he's in a wheel chair. All other rooms are upstairs. Someone there really needs to look at ALL the wood burning fireplaces, seriously look at them; (3) We would told that the cleaning/linen service was every other day. They came the day before we left; and an hour early on the day we were leaving; (4) Lights were burnt out all over the house when we arrived, fixed that too right before we left; and lastly (5) one of the master bedroom jacuzzi tubs was leaking right into the kitchen, I'm sure you can imagine our surprise as water came gushing out the light fixtures. I will say that every time we called to get something fixed or repaired, the care taker handled it, he was a great guy. But I'm on vacation, and these are some things I'd prefer not to deal with, if you know what I mean. I think that Timber Lodge could be a great place to stay if some renovations and attention to the upkeep of the lodge were in order, and should be expected, considering the price tag.
