Antigua House Rental Photos and Description
House, 5 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 2-11)
This amazing home was the star of a popular HGTV series last year. We are living there for part of the year and this is your opportunity to enjoy our oasis in Colonial Antigua, a UNESCO world heritage site. Our home is situated in a lovely, safe and quiet neighborhood.
This colonial home was designed and built by the famous architect, Franklin Contreras, who builds million dollar plus homes in Antigua. It's unique floor plan is laid out in a traditional colonial style, while making the most out of the home's view of the Volcano Aqua. It has a huge master bedroom with enormous mahogany closets, and a master bath with soaking whirlpool tub. Then there are two large bedrooms, each with two twin beds that share a beautiful bathroom with tub, marble, and skylights. In the front of the house, there is an another bedroom with bunk beds and an additional twin and private bath. Finally, the TV room in the back of the home has a full-sized bed. In sum total, the home sleeps 11 comfortably. I recently brought down a pack and play for the convenience of those with young children. There are also two inflatable mattresses. The layout of the home makes it perfect for just a couple, or a large family.
The home is centered around a beautiful courtyard with local flowers, as well as herbs for cooking. The living room has a working fireplace, and wood is included. There is a brand new 46' LED television in the living room and local cable is included. The kitchen has a gigantic cupola painted the color of the sky and ample cabinets and counter-space. The kitchen is fully-equipped. There is a large pantry for all of your market purchases. The dining room has seating for eight around a beautiful Mahogany table, and there is a covered outdoor table that seats six as well as outdoor furniture if you want to dine outside.
The highlight of this property is the upstairs terrace, hands down. The terrace is immense, covering the entire footprint of the home and has an amazing pergula to provide shade while reading, working, dining or just enjoying life. There is a table for four under the pergola, as well as ample outdoor furniture for dining and relaxing. This is where I spend all of my time at the property.
There is Wi-Fi throughout the home, as well as phone, cable and a printer.
We have a two car garage, so if you have your own vehicle, you can park there. There is also ample street parking. If you are renting the home for one week or more, I will include free airport transfers (to and from) in our 12 passenger van. Our driver, Julio, is available to arrange additional transportation to the Lake, or to the beach, or to wherever you would like to go.
The home is located a fifteen minute walk from central park and ten minutes from the central market. Being in the center of Antigua sounds nice, but there is constant traffic and noise. If you like a quiet place, friendly neighbors, and experiencing the true culture of Antigua, this is it.
If you're a foodie, like me, you'll want to get to know the fresh fish guy, who comes by each Monday afternoon with his fresh catch from Puerto Quetzal. I buy sea bass, robolo, dorado, tuna, and shrimp regularly, all sushi-grade. There are fresh fruit guys that stop by on Wednesday, but I go to the open air market for pretty much everything else. Antigua is an agricultural hub for an incredible variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. But, if you're not the cooking type, there are 1001 restaurants in Antigua covering every type of cuisine imaginable. Ampero, the house-keeper, can also arrange for catering in for breakfast or other meals. If this is something you are interested in, you can speak with her upon arrival.
Housekeeping service is included in the rental rate and occurs on Tuesday and Friday. In other words, there are no hidden end-of-stay cleaning fees. If you wish to receive daily service, that is available too. Your vacation can be customized to meet your needs so that you have the absolute best experience in Antigua.
