The apartment was just fully renovated in late 2012. The bathroom, kitchen, and all the appliances are brand new, while the original elements of the apartment have been carefully restored, including the antique terracotta floors, and beautiful 18th century oak beams. The apartment is flooded with light due to its southern exposure and two large skylights. The window is equipped with blackout shades and the two large skylights have remote-controlled motorized exterior shades that allow you to easily keep the light out for mornings when you want to sleep late or go to bed early as you adjust to the time change.
The street and neighborhood are full of restaurants, art galleries, and in particular numerous designer clothing boutiques. The shops and restaurants on the street and surrounding area have the distinction of being open on Sundays, which is rare in Paris, keeping the area full of life, and making conveniences such as grocery stores available 7 days a week. The apartment is within walking distance of numerous museums and monuments, including the Picasso Museum, the Carnavalet Museum (the museum of the history of Paris), the beautiful Place des Vosges, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Additionally, it is only a 2 minute walk from the apartment to the St. Paul metro station, which is on the high-speed modern Line 1 (the yellow line) that goes through the heart of the city directly to numerous monuments and sites, such as the Musée du Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe. A set of English language architectural walking tours is provided with maps and photographs.
The antique terracotta floor in bathroom is complemented with pale white glass mosaic tiles on the walls. The smoked-glass window in the bathroom provides both privacy and ample natural light in addition to the embedded ceiling lighting and above-mirror light. Electrical outlets in the bathroom allow you to plug in rechargeable shavers and toothbrushes (an outlet head adapter is provided - please make sure your appliances function on European 240 volt circuits), and a hairdryer and magnifying mirror are also provided.
The studio has two sleeping areas: a full-size bed (140 cm – between a full and queen size bed) in a loft space under one of the skylights (where you can gaze at the night sky from bed or close the electric exterior shutters for complete darkness). Additionally, there is a large and very comfortable sofa bed (160 cm – between a queen and king size bed) with a thick mattress that feels just like a comfortable traditional bed. There is an antique mirrored wardrobe with hangars and drawers. The studio is ideal for 2 -3 people but can sleep up to 4 people.
The glass cabinets and white stone countertop in the kitchen conceal a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher, combination microwave/oven, refrigerator with wine rack, espresso machine, cook top with an aeration hood above it that is perfect for picking up fresh food at local markets or nearby grocers and enjoying in the apartment. It has a dining table expandable for seating up to 4. The kitchen is equipped with plates, glasses, flatware, wineglasses, pots, pans, a toaster and a coffee maker.
A clothes washing machine and separate clothes dryer are in the apartment and available for stays of 7 days or more, as well as an iron and ironing board, giving you complete laundry facilities within the apartment.
The apartment has a HD flat screen television with hundreds of cable channels, including numerous English language news stations such as CNN and BBC. Unlimited high-speed wifi connection is provided, as is a telephone with free international calls to all numbers in the United States, Canada, and landlines in Europe and several other countries.
