Lakeside House Rental Photos and Description
3 Br 2 1/2 Bath Home On protected Bay. Sleeps 9
We love our lake home! It is so beautiful and such a blessing to us. The photos give a fairly good idea of what you'll get...and it's spotlessly clean. It's a paradise for boating (any kind), swimming, fishing off the dock for kids and in the lake for lunkers. One of my best friends guides trips and takes you to secret spots for lunker lake trout ( 2-30 pounders). Early morning trophy trips, children's trips, sunset/wine trips. Fish guaranteed or he'll take you out again.
BIRDERS: Birds galore. Canadian geese (always), ducks, hummingbirds, & everything in your bird-watching book that flies around here, plus some strays. The real treat is the appearence of herons, ospreys, and eagles. Peaceful Bay is not deep (4-9 ft) which brings Blue Herrons (spring), ospreys all summer, and eagles now and then. They fish right in front of you and fly away with their catch. Our hedge of lilacs is nesting home to hundreds of hummingbirds. They bloom about the 2nd week of May or so for a month, then remain a green nesting place 20 feet from the feeders. We have a large lawn facing the lake with firepit and a tepee, and an even larger yard on the other side, sloped slightly...good for volleyball and horse shoes.
Wildlife abounds. Deer are in our yard evenings and muskrats and otters swim by the dock occasionally. Our neighbors are at a private distance and are our friends. You'll like them. They're very helpful. On the other side of the paved road to our house (25 MPH) there are hills covered with evergreens. No houses.
We are located 2 miles from our little town of Lakeside. (See photos). Post office, great marina with gas, mechanics, slips, restaurant, and boat rentals. Bring your own boat and dock it in the covere3d slip. Boat rentals aren't cheap. We have churches, restaurants to kill for, shops, pharmacy, medical/massage center, bars and casinos, liquor store, 2 gas stations, deli, hair styling, GOOD HARDWARE/LUMBER STORE, wonderful grocery store, and stuff I don't even know about. Probably 400 people live there, swelling 4x in the summer.
One of the special features is that we are on the west side of the lake and yet our house faces west for sunsets till 10:30 PM in summer. Check the map to figure it out. Thunder/lightning storms brew up quickly some summer days and are better than the 4th of July. Lakeside has the best fireworks display I've seen which can be viewed from our deck or from a boat at the end of our bay. Peaceful Bay is a finger bay off the main body, allowing 6 or 7 homes on the correct side of the bay to face west. The old timer who built our dock (with a paddleboat and pile driver) has been around for decades. He told me we have the best lot on the lake. He would trade me! I had no idea how blessed we are. We have fantastic sunsets over the bay.

About Art Otto
Debbie and I designed and built our Cape Cod style home in 1997. We got engaged on Cedar Island a few miles down the lake. We've lived here full-time for the last 10 years. We lived in Kalispell before that since 1976 and just bought our old house back! I am 15 min from your rental and available to help or suggest. I also can disappear if you want that privacy. I am a lifetime Montanan, 4th generstion, with 2 more generations here behind me. Debbie was born in Nebraska and has been here since '76. We have a close knit family, good, long-term neighbors, and a lively and friendly community. God has blessed us! I am a retired veterinarian and now a property manager (just our lake house).
Our lake neighbors are good friends and very helpful. It is very important that we keep it that way, so we expect you to treat our home and neighbors as if they were your own. We list our home as a family-friendy one. None of us has wild, noisy parties in our yards, but we do have a lot of fun, meaning we tolerate each other's reasonable noise. What happens here goes home with you. This is not Las Vegas.
Sorry, we can't allow smoking. (Two exceptions. Pool table room and tepee. Check with me first). If you like our area as much as we do, I am a licensed Realtor and can show you around. We are in a buyers market like we've never seen for lake property. It makes more sense to enjoy your home and job where you live, and rent from Debbie and me for a week or two. The year-round cost of owning a lake home like ours...not be cheap.

Why Art Otto chose Lakeside
This can be the vacation of a lifetime and can be repeated next year, too. There are hundreds of other things to do. Just ask and I'll find & send you specifics.
An unusual benefit to some is that I do allow smoking, with permission, in one special part of our house.....my pool table room above the garage! DO NOT TELL DEBBIE I SAID THIS!! It is equipped with an excellent pool table, phonograph and huge selection of LPs from The Ink Spots, Sinatra, 50s, 60s, 70s, classical, country, comedy, whatever. Motiff is my old stuff...neon flamingoes and '57 chevy, deer antlers, saddles, etc. (Have to see to appreciate). Debbie has the house decorated exceptionally, but I finally convinced her to just leave the pool room alone and accept the fact that she married a guy. Neither of us smoke, but we are regular Montana people. Smokers are people too! If you do smoke there, I ask that you leave your smoking clothes up there and air out the room with the fan for our next renters. Please leave NO evidence of butts, ashes, or smoke anywhere, including outside. The tepee is an exception, too. There is a penalty for clean-up, including steam cleaning carpets and drapes. No carpet or drapes are in the tepee or pool room!
