As far as how we accommodate our guests. Since we feel that a good nights sleep is one of the most important parts to having an enjoyable vacation, we want to put your mind at ease and let you know that we have provided Sealy Posturepedic beds with Pillow-Top Memory Foam Med/Firm, encased in waterproof mattress protectors (that don't crinkle) and mattress pads, as well as all pillow cases encased in the same, that will keep you protected from anything you don't want to think about, along with Microfiber sheets to provide a soft comfortable spa like feeling at the same time we use microfiber since it is antimicrobial, and prevents viruses, bacteria, and germs from being able to survive. We take this seriously and wash all bedding after each guest including the shower curtain and bath rug so you can feel certain you can just relax as if you are at home. We want you to feel the comforts of home, with a tropical feel, so you can truly enjoy your vacation!
We are only 20 minutes from the Hilo Airport and Hilo Town, less than 20 min to some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island at Wai 'opae Marine Sanctuary Tidal Pools and then relax in the naturally heated thermal warm ponds.
Visit nearby Lava Tree State Park and Volcanoes National Park with miles of hiking trails, Lava Tubes to walk through, and look for flowing lava (check for up-to-date conditions and info) at the Public Viewing Trail outside the park.

Aloha and Mahalo,
John and Shauna Knutsen
We would like to introduce ourselves to you, our guests. We are John and Shauna Knutsen, and we have two children Cindy and Zane.
We fell in love with Hawaii when we got married on Kauai, and have been coming back every since. There is no other place to us like Hawaii, its not just the beauty you see with your eyes, its the beauty of the humble people, the culture and the slowed down island time feel that allows you to truly relax and take the time to enjoy creation.
We love to bring our family and friends to enjoy this wonderful place, and even though all of Hawaii has so much to offer we decided on the Big Island- since it is so large and there is so much variety and so many climates- What other island can you be in a rain forest, an arid desert, an active volcano, on top of the tallest mountain from the sea floor (snow covered in winter), all on the SAME DAY! And even though all the islands are beautiful we feel that this island has some of the Best of the Best right here!
We chose this area since we love the beauty, the tropical rain at night, the Coqui frogs singing, and the area is centrally located to our favorite places! And we love the easy going friendly laid back atmosphere.
This house having the private and separate cottage that our Gardener stays in. it allows our guests their privacy while being close enough to take care of things and be there in case we need him for our guests, puts our mind at ease.
We also like the quiet, country feeling so that when you get up and look outside you see nature, you hear the birds, and not the hustle of the city.
Hawaii Volcanos National Park, Lava Viewing, Lava Tree State Park, Waterfalls, Natural Warm/Hot Ponds, Botanical Gardens, Rain Forest and Zoo, Telescope Star-Gazing Mauna Kea (best star gazing in the world), Snorkeling at Tide Pools, Black Sand Beaches, Hiking Lava Tubes and through Craters, Farmers Markets, Stroll through Old Historic Hilo Town, Museums, Japanese Gardens, Zip Lining over waterfalls, Helicopter Tours over Volcano, Nature Walks, Caverns, and so much more!
