BEAUTIFULLY LOCATED STONE HOUSE IN OVER 400 YEAR OLD DOMAINE

Sarlat la Caneda House Rental Photos and Description

All comfort, fully equipped, sleeps 6. Very suitable for low season use.

Les Girolles is a stone house with several terraces that is part of the domaine Lagrenie, close to Groléjac. It is quietly situated at the end of a wood road, but just 15 minutes from the Medieval city of Sarlat and the famous villages Domme and La Roque-Cageac, and only 25 minutes from the castles of Castelnaud and Beynac. Located on a hillside it provides fantastic views over the river the Dordogne and the Perigordian hills.

Lagrenie consists of an old farmhouse, where the Dutch owners live, and two rental houses: Les Cèpes (sleeps 8) and Les Girolles (sleeps 6). The renters share a large swimming pool (6 x 12 meters), table tennis table and trampoline, and have complete privacy with several terraces of their own.

We, Karin and Gijs are a Dutch couple in our fifties. We moved to France two years ago to fulfill our dream. Since then we are almost fully booked from April through September and we are very proud of the reviews we have received. Karin takes care of the houses and gardens, Gijs is a writer and board room consultant and facilitates business retreats.

Karin ten Kate purchased this house in 2010

We have dreamt all our lives of offering a quiet, inspiring place to people to relax, be happy and rebalanced from the pressures of society. We found Lagrenie in 2010 and we have turned it into something unique: the authenticity of a medieval domaine with all modern comfort you could wish. Lagrenie is surrounded by woods an has views over the river, but is very close to all famous castles, markets and villages of the Dordogne.

Original stone houses.

Quite location nearby any possible attraction.

Authentic, romantic place with large swimming pool (6X12), trampoline, table tennis, stunning views, ruins.

EVEN BETTER THAN EXPECTED

  • 5 of 5
Rarely does a rental property meet and exceed expectations like Lagrenie. If you are thinking to yourself, as I did, that it could not possibly be as beautiful as the pictures make it seem, then prepare to be amazed because it really is that gorgeous. Everything was exactly as promised, perfectly clean and ready for us when we arrived. The house is very well furnished and was very comfortable. The kitchen is also well provided for. There was lots of space for enjoying the beautiful views of the Dordogne valley and relaxing. There are plenty of things to do nearby if you can bear to tear yourself away from Lagrenie. We especially enjoyed visiting the beautiful towns scattered throughout the Dordogne valley. Around every turn of the road, it seemed, there was another breathtakingly beautiful sight. As others have noted, Karin is a great host and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. This is really the perfect place to "get away from it all" for a very relaxing and enjoyable time with family or friends. I look forward to coming back as soon as possible!

EXCELLENT STAY

  • 5 of 5
Our stay was wonderful. The location is secluded in a peaceful area overlooking the Dordogne river and we sipped our morning coffee watching the birds circle over the treetops. Karin is a very hospitable host and the accommodations are accurately described. The property is centrally located to numerous historical sites and towns within a 30 minute drive. We highly recommend this property for a relaxing vacation.

BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY IN A GREAT REGION...

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Karin's cottage in June 2012 for about ten days. It's a beautiful property and was perfect for our family. The children loved the pool, ping pong table, trampoline, open areas to run and explore, games in the cottage. Adults loved the remote location. We felt as if we were close enough to town to stop in for dinner or to the store, but far enough away that we were really getting away from it all. The cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed to feel at home There is also a laundry on-site for extended stays. We enjoyed having Karin on the property to answer our questions and help with small details. The pictures really do the property justice.

The region is great for active families. We canoed, swam, hiked, explored chateaux and museums. We coupled the stay in Dordogne with a week in Paris so we could enjoy both city and country. A terrific vacation!

These stone houses and their several terraces are part of the Lagrenie domaine found in the hills overlooking Groléjac village, the Dordogne river and Perigordian hills. Situated at the end of a forest road, it is tranquility itself. However, the Medieval city of Sarlat and the famous villages Domme and La Roque-Gageac are 15 minutes away, Beynac Castle and Castelnaud: 25 minutes.

The Dutch owners live in Lagrenie's old farmhouse, with Les Cèpes (sleeps 6-8) and Les Girolles (sleeps 6) clustered around the views and the large shared (6 x 12 meters) pool. There is also a table tennis table and trampoline. Beautifully tended gardens provide ample space for children to exhaust themselves, while adults can relax in the complete privacy of the terraces.
