Inverness House Rental Photos and Description

Beautiful late Victorian house with open fires and an AGA

This comfortable family house sits in an elevated and secluded position close to Inverness town centre. Surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and flowering bushes, the private garden offers panoramic views over Inverness to the hills beyond. Just 5 minutes walk from Inverness town centre, Eden Court theatre, Bellfield Park and the lovely Ness Islands.

This spacious house is furnished with the emphasis on comfort and enjoyment. The open plan kitchen and dining room with open fire is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. While your meal is simmering on the AGA, wander outside to the garden to enjoy the glorious views. Comfort is continued in the cosy sitting room, also with open fire; here you can round off the day with a cup of tea or a whisky before retiring to the lovely comfortable bedrooms.

The house comes with all “mod cons”: gas central heating, free wi-fi, Sonos multi-room sound system and two widescreen TVs with PVR, Blu-ray and DVD players (and a wireless for the Archers!). There is also a cupboard full of board games and shelves full of books and DVDs.

About Graham

Graham grew up in Inverness before leaving to go to University in Edinburgh in 1986. He has always been extremely fond of Inverness and the Highlands and has retained close connections to the town (now a city). He has many relatives and friends living locally and gets back as often as he can, especially in the football season as he and his father are long-standing season ticket holders at Inverness Caley Thistle.

Graham purchased this house in 2006

Why Graham chose Inverness

Graham bought Bellfield Cottage back in 2006, initially for his own use when visiting friends and family. Since 2009, he has let the house out to visitors. It is a very busy rental property, fully booked every summer, Christmas and New Year and popular in the autumn and spring with return guests, including many performers at the local Eden Court theatre.

In 2012, Graham bought Kinmylies Farmhouse, which had long been one of his favourite properties in Inverness. Thsi is also now available to rent. (see http://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1091419)

Graham's mother, Margaret, looks after both of his rental properties and delights in meeting guests from all parts of the world.

What makes this house unique

It took me 7 years of searching to find my dream home from home. Bellfield Cottage is one of just 4 houses cut into the steep bank that runs through Inverness parallel to the river. The cottage is secluded enough to afford guests complete privacy, yet with wonderful views and only a short walk to the town centre.

Comfortable, quiet and convenient

  • 5 of 5
Loved the location of Bellfield Cottage, just a few minutes walk from the Inverness city centre shops and restaurants and two minutes from pleasant river walks yet tucked away in a very quiet secluded spot.

Youview, DVD player, wifi and Sonus were all very useful while the aga was surprisingly easy and enjoyable to use.

Bedrooms were very comfortable, had plenty of storage and provided great views.

Living room was warm and very comfortable. Fires in the open fireplace provided many a cosy evening in.

The open plan kitchen/dining room was also well equipped and comfortable although occasionally became very warm due to the constant heat from the aga. This was easily resolved though by opening the front windows and back door. I'm not sure how well this would work in summer though.

My only slight criticism (very slight as we will definitely be back!) would be for the bathroom facilities. No proper shower upstairs (shower attachment on bath but no shower screen/curtain) and low water pressure wasn't ideal and, while there is a shower room downstairs, it's less convenient with a relatively small shower. Not really an issue with only two of us in the house though!

The house was very clean and very well equipped with all the usual things you'd expect and lots of the things you don't always get - cafetière, coffee filter, cooking tongs, plenty of sharp knives, good quality glassware, plenty of towels, excellent quality bedding, supplies of washing powder, dishwasher tablets, wood, coal, kindling etc. etc. etc.

I had initially been concerned about the lack of allocated parking but this was never an issue. Although the parking is on-road, it is at the very end of the road, tucked around a corner in a dead-end where nobody else seems to go (other than pedestrians and cyclists using the footpath which begins just as the road ends). "Our" parking spot was always available.

We were made to feel very welcome by the owners on arrival who also stayed in contact throughout our stay by telephone to ensure everything was ok - reassuring yet unobtrusive.

Bellfield Cottage was very comfortable and very homely and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We very much look forward to staying again!

A warm welcome from the owner. A house in a very quiet location with a beautiful view (especially at night) to Inverness and the Highlands! The house has everything you need. It was clean and comfortable. A beautiful garden with BBQ. Tastefully furnished rooms. A large kitchen, which was very important for us. We love coming back to this beautiful place. I will recommend this lovely home my friends...

Excellent Coice

Excellent equipped house. Everything was very clean, the beds were very good and lots of space. The house is located in a friendly and calm area of Inverness with less than 15min walking distance to the centre.
Perfect location to explore the city and the highlands.

Excellent Vacation

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from a 2 week vacation at Bellfield Cootage. It has everything you will need and more. We had 7 adults and still had room to move around. The views from the cottage are fantastic? It is very close to the city and the Ness Islands. We walked every where. The Cottage lost power on our 2nd night and Graham and his mom Margaret came right over and to see what could be done. Apparently the power was out for quite a few people and was not just us. Graham got a portable gas stove out for us to use. We found candles in a cabinet and had a fantastic time playing cards by candle light. The weather was typical for Scotland. We had a few afternoons where we could sit outside in the garden and enjoy the beautiful views over Inverness. Using the Aga in the kitchen was a bit of a challenge but we figured it out. There are quite a few books on the shelves in the dining room for using the Aga, they were very helpful. It is definately a home worth renting for a vacation in Inverness. Thanks Graham and Margaret for making our vacation a memorable one.

Absolutely Perfect Home

  • 5 of 5
This is truly an amazing home. We are a family of five and stayed for week. I cannot find enough good things to say. Upon arrival we were welcomed with open arms, wine, milk, tea and other things we might need immediately. The home is very neat and tidy. It has immenties too numerous to mention. The Aga stove was new to us and we loved it. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with everything a person could possibly need. I hated to leave. The trees and flowers blooming all around were lovely; the only noise was the sound of the birds chirpping. Easy walk to town and along the river. I wish everyone could have this wonderful experience. Thank you, Graham and Margaret for making our vacation a very memorable one.

Bellfield Cottage, 'the cottage in the city', combines the luxury, warmth, charm and seclusion of a country retreat with the convenience of a town-centre location, being just a short walk to the theatre, restaurants, pubs and shops.

Bellfield Park is a two minute walk away and is a lovely place for adults to relax and children to play; with a bandstand, tennis courts, playground and paddling pool. Whin park is a 15 minute walk through the beautiful Ness Islands and has a large adventure playground, boating pond, ducks and even a miniature train for kids.

Inverness is surrounded by many world-class visitor attractions from the battlefield at Culloden to the world-famous Loch Ness. Distilleries and castles are too numerous to mention, but our favourites are the ruined Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness and the Glenmorangie distillery at Tain, Explore the Cairngorms on the funicular railway or enjoy the animals at Kincraig wildlife park.

The real beauty of the Scottish Highlands is the natural environment. You can expect to see a variety of flora and fauna; including birds of prey, wild deer, leaping salmon, dolphins in the Moray Firth and, if you are very lucky, the famous Loch Ness monster.

There are walking trails for all ages and abilities, country sports of hunting, shooting and fishing as well as climbing, golf, sailing and skiing for the more active.

Throw in some of the best fresh food in the UK and some really great local restaurants and your stay will be truly memorable.

Other Activities: Curling, ice skating, bowling, floral hall, dolphin watching, wildlife parks
