Overview

Estes Park Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom. Comfortable, clean, perfect location. View from deck.

Elk Cottage is truly our “home away from home”. This quiet, three bedroom, historic cottage is a short walk to downtown Estes Park. The knotty pine interior is warm and cozy with all the modern necessities. Enjoy views of the Stanley Hotel and Twin Owls from the deck off the master bedroom. Avoid parking hassles by parking at “home” and enjoy the views of the valley as you walk just 3 blocks to the downtown center, which also has a free shuttle bus (seasonal), that takes you everywhere in the Estes Valley. Grocery store is only ½ mile away. There will be Elk and other wildlife viewing opportunities. Peaceful residential street with several homes built in the 1920’s. This home will be perfect for vacationers who want to relax and enjoy Estes Park charm, and be close to restaurants and shops in a homespun atmosphere. It is a quaint and uniquely Estes Park cabin in town. You can even take the shuttle (summer) to Rocky Mountain National Park if you desire to ride and not drive, however, if you prefer to drive into the Park it is a short, easy access to both Park entrances.

In the summer enjoy your coffee on the deck or grill dinner on the barbeque. The fun in the Estes Valley is limitless. Staying in our “home away from home” you can be a visitor and a resident at the same time. Best of both worlds! You can do all of this without starting your car if you wish.

In the autumn enjoy the changing trees, the elk rut and migration through the valley, Scottish festival, Elk Fest, and some really great sales in the shops! Thanksgiving Holiday brings out the picturesque Holiday lights and decorations as well as a Catch the Glow Holiday parade the day after Thanksgiving. A truly heartwarming way to start the Season!

There is simply no better place to spend Christmas than this quaint, beautifully decorated mountain village. Winter is a fantastic time to visit Estes Park. It is quiet and peaceful and there are many things to do in the area such as snow shoeing, sledding, ice skating, playing in the snow, and enjoying a warm meal in the restaurants. January brings the Winter Festival which is something worth checking out.

Spring brings with it the newborn Elk calves and migration through the valley again. All in all, there are just no ends to the things to do in the Estes Park Valley…..oh and did I mention hiking and exploring in Rocky Mountain National Park? This home offers a close and convenient access to all amenities in the Estes Valley.

Please allow us to welcome you to our “home away from home”.

About Becky Sorensen

I am a native of Colorado and love spending time in the mountains. We have raised three wonderful daughters and have 6 grandchildren. Living in Estes Park is wonderful. Estes Park is a great community for visitors or residents. Come and create some great memories!

Becky Sorensen purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Becky Sorensen chose Estes Park

We purchased this property because of it's unique Estes Park charm and history. Built in the 1920's it is cozy and warm but with all the modern conveniences of today. Updated but retains the 'cabin' feel that we love.

What makes this cottage unique

The location of this property is perfect for enjoying the Park, beautiful scenic drives, or the many other Estes Valley activities. Close enough to walk or shuttle to almost anywhere in the area, including Rocky Mountain National Park. Quick and convenient access by car to activities. The deck off the kitchen and master bedroom has a great view of the Stanley Hotel and Lumpy Ridge. We have sat there many days and watched elk and deer grazing in the yard. The knotty pine interior is beautiful and creates a warm atmosphere.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Perfect! That's all I have to say.We had a great weekend. It's like home away from home. Went to the Stanley for a ghost tour and ghost stories for our daughter's 13th birthday. She and her friends can't wait to come back. I love the coziness of the your place. I want to come back in the summer. Going back to Colorado Springs and the city life. Thank you for everything.

.These girls are forever friends with "Scary Mary".

Dog friendly is a plus to this cozy cabin with a great location

  • of 5
We loved our stay at this property. It was a perfect place for the two of us and our dogs , due to the fenced in area out back. We loved the big bathroom, location to downtown (easy and fast to access restaurants and bars - 5 minute walk), and the cozy feel of the cabin, itself. I think the cabin could use just a few small upgrades but, overall, I would recommend it and stay again. The owner was very responsive and the stay was hassle free (lots of helpful literature and info about how things operated).

Two Seasons at the Elk Cottage

  • 5 of 5
We had a fabulous time at the Elk Cottage for one week at Thanksgiving. This was actually our second visit. We had such a great time with our Colorado family during the summer, we decided it would be perfect for a place to bring the family together at Thanksgiving. The cottage is cozy but not crowded and very comfortable. It was beautifully decorated for the season and had everything we needed. Having individual heating thermostats in each room made everyone comfortable. There were movies and books available for the time we spent indoors, and plenty to see outside. Big elk and deer right in our neighborhood made the trip especially exciting. I fixed Thanksgiving dinner for 10 (Our children and grandchildren visited from Boulder and Denver)without any problem because of a well-equipped kitchen. The town was decked out for Christmas and the festivities and parade the day after Thanksgiving were wonderful. I hope we will be able to return next year. We haven't experienced winter or spring, but I can definitely recommend the Elk Cottage for fall and summer!

Great place that was nicer than advertised

  • of 5
My wife and I rented the cabin for the weekend and had a great time. It's a nice, short walk to downtown as well as the Stanley Hotel, so the convenience couldn't be beat. We brought our medium-sized dog who also enjoyed the cabin and Estes Park greatly. Would be glad to stay here again.

A Perfect Cozy Visit

  • of 5
We had 5 people up here in Estes for the weekend and it was perfect! Warm, clean, and had everything we needed. It was just a quick stroll to the lake and downtown and the dog was very content with the back porch and yard. We couldn't have asked for more for our weekend in the mountains. We'll be back! I gave the property itself 4 stars because it's not "luxurious" it's just exactly what it's described as, a little rustic but very comfortable.

Cozy and Comfortable with Great Access to Everything!

This little home was as clean as could be! I'm choosy about my bed when I travel
and found this one to be just great! This was a wonderful launching
pad for our weekend of hiking in RMNP. I highly recommend!

It didn't WOW me

It didn't WOW me

The place was fine, but not luxurious at all. The bathroom was actually my favorite room. It is fine, but feels a bit compact. It does have a great location however. On the down side, electric heaters, one of which is missing a knob; a dishwasher you have to roll over to the sink; no dining room table big enough for all of us (which I did know before I went). It was fine, just nothing to write home about.

Owner's Response: Not everyone will love the property, however I do try very hard to make sure it is represented accurately. No surprises here. Houses built in the 1920's have character in place of luxury. It is full of character and is comfortable and clean. I have provided accurate descriptions and pictures.
