We are three sisters who have inherited our Mom's home. We grew up coming to the Waterloo in the summers and later when Mom moved to the beach full time. The Waterloo holds wonderful memories for us and we hope you will create your own wonderful memories at the Waterloo.

Best Vacation Ever !!

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from the Waterloo and I can honestly say that it was the best family vacation ever!! We have always rented oceanfront in the past. This year we decided to try Sound-Front and we are very happy that we did!! The location could not have been more perfect. Our grown sons spent hours fishing off of the private dock. We rented a boat and spent one afternoon tubing right behind the house. What a blast !! The gorgeous beach is literally just an easy walk across the street. The owners are nice and helpful and the house is pet-friendly !! Our greyhounds liked the air-conditioned house best of all !! The house is clean, the kitchen could use some up-dates (new pots/pans, etc. would be great) and the bathrooms are very small (some shelving in the master bath would help). The living/dining area has extremely comfortable furniture and the view of the sound and the sunsets are just spectacular. I would not hesitate to highly recommend this property. We would definitely rent again !!

Love Love Love Waterloo

  • 5 of 5
My family and I rented Waterloo for the week, for a family vacation, and we didn't want to leave. The location is amazing and the dock area was perfect for our boat and jet skis. We rarely went to the beach because we were having so much fun right off the dock! We also purchased a stand up paddle board (SUP) while we were there and the Waterloo is perfect for SUP! The house is lovely and we cooked every night; one night we were even lucky enough to catch a red fish and ate that. Joe is his family were so welcoming and accommodating. Joe would check in every so often to make sure we didn't need anything and he helped us with parking all our cars and trailers. My mom loved sitting on the porch at night and just watching the water. We saw dolphins almost every day and loved having a front row seat to watch the pirate ships take over the party boat. We will definitely be back to Waterloo!! One week is not enough time here...next time we're renting for at least two!

Nature and Wildlife surrounds.....

  • 5 of 5
We arrived at Waterloo ready relaxation for 8 nights..We had s/w of longer of a drive..small blizzard in Boone and a missed turn in Siler City. We found Waterloo the same as our last visit very clean and well "stocked". Winter had clung a little longer this year and the water was to cool for the fish to bite and even though we had plenty of sunshine the winds made being outside a little chilly. The sunroom/dining room was a perfect retreat...it does heat up in there. I enjoy so much the nature and the wildlife that surrounds Waterloo...We watched a pair of Osprey build their nest on the channel marker...flying over with sticks and one time with a fish...hopefully future quests at Waterloo will get to watch the chicks. Saw Merganser ducks they are beautiful..Joe educated on their name. Saw dolphins but not as many as last stay. When weather/clouds permitted saw beautiful sunsets and stars.

This was a pretty low key trip...just relaxing and reading etc...We cooked breakfast/brunch everyday. Loved the griddle on the stove...made some very good buckwheat and banana pancakes. We stop at Clark's Pork Outlet/Rocky Point on the way in for their fresh and delicous products. Enjoyed crab supper one night went to Sears Landing and got their crab cakes and coconut crab soup and then to the Harris Teeter for Alaskan crab legs...fun eating in the sunroom. The highlight of the vacation was going to Kinston and eating at the Boiler Room Oyster Bar/a Chef and Farmer project..the meal there was in the top 2 restaurant meals of my life.We also got pie from the Riverview Cafe and Corner Sweet Shop along with cookies and their very good cinnamon rolls.Pizza and antipasto salad one night from Long Island Pizza and couple visits to New Deli for sandwichs and soup...other than that enjoyed cooking in the kitchen of Waterloo.

Love Topsail Island and can't wait for our October trip.

You could hear the dolphins breath....

  • 5 of 5
One week on Topsail Island is never long enough...we were wanting to extend our Oct. stay but the property we were renting was not available...so after researching we found Waterloo and I am so glad we did.

We had never stayed sound front before always ocean. It was a wonderful time. The setting was very quiet and with lots of birds and wildlife. The dolphins were so close swimming by you could hear them breathing through their blow holes. You could see fish in the water from the deck. I also enjoyed watching the boats go by. The sunsets were amazing also.

The house was very comfortable, clean and very well "stocked" for a relaxing stay. The garage and elevator made coming and going very easy. The owners were great to work with and made renting very easy. Planning on coming back for a longer stay soon.

Pleasant Experience

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I and a few friends wanted to get away for New Years and while looking for homes we stumbled upon Waterloo. WE will definitely go back! Cottage style house with comfortable beds and if you fall off the deck you are in the water, It's that close! Also, it's pet friendly. I found Joe to be very reasonable and accommodating during our stay. The place was ready on time, and clean for check in. Best of all, and unlike a majority of other homes on VRBO, it's managed by the owner himself not a realty company. Why is this important you ask? You avoid all the extra BS fees. When you get a quote here, that's what you expect to pay, not double at checkout! Short walk to the beach, and will definitely come back when it's warmer to be able to enjoy the dock more.

Topsail Island is a family beach that still has the charm not seen at many larger beach areas. Local shops and attractions are unique, not commercialized, and our beaches are not over crowded. One of the few gems left on the east coast.
