About Grace Shigematsu
We are Southern Californians who enjoy skiing and golfing. Our 3 adult children grew up skiing and snowboarding on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain in the High Sierras. We own a home in Mammoth and have visited many golf resorts. We are now empty nesters and are relishing the time we can spend with family and friends on mountain and golf resorts.
Grace Shigematsu purchased this house in 2012
Why Grace Shigematsu chose Promontory
The Promontory Club is located 35 minutes from SLC Airport and a quick 10 minutes from Park City and Kimball Junction. Deer Valley, Park City and the Canyons resorts offer summer and winter activities. We fell in love with the high desert scenery, all the amenities that Promontory has to offer and the peacefulness of the community.
What makes this house unique
After owning a Trapper's Cabin for about 15 months, we discovered that our family and friends loved coming up with us so much that we needed a bigger place. Since we loved the proximity of our cabin to the hub of the club, we wanted our next home to also be within walking distance. This larger cabin affords us that luxury along with being able to accommodate more people.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Our 4 night stay - short, but because you were already (and deservedly!) booked on either end - leaves me with a pining feeling in my heart as we prepare to leave. Not only is being here such an exquisite feeling, both aesthetically and due to the warm energy surrounding the living space, but our ventures out were all delightful: taking bike rides and discovering the boats and decks and fish at the little lake, stumbling onto the soccer field "at the top of the world" (something about it reminded me of being in Mexico somehow), and breathing the fresh mountain air after the cleansing rain.
Outside of Promontory, we were in close proximity to Jordanelle where our son had sailing camp every morning. We hiked/walked a few Rail-to-Trails; we ate sumptuously at River Horse and bar-food-fully at Squatters; and we (parents) went paddle-boarding while our son was sailing. Meanwhile, your home served as a warm and comfortable - and at the same time grand and elegant - place to return to. The cupboards were stocked like home in terms of pots, pans, implements, tea, coffee, spices, oil, cereal, crackers - my goodness!
The beds were so comfortable we took note of the brand for OUR next mattress purchase. The spaces were all very, very clean (even the garage!). And we had the feeling at all times that we were "RIDICULOUSLY" well taken care of by you both and by Ben, the property manager (an exceptionally kind and responsive person). When we had a question, it was as if you were here at the Ranch, considering how swiftly you answered.
Grace and Ron, you and Cabin #19 are the very best end of the spectrum of what people can find on VRBO. We plan our vacations with care, and when a rental has to be sight-unseen, there's that element of uncertainty and tentativeness. But you aren't simply in the "business" of renting your house; it's as if you have a personal mission to make people's vacation really, really special. So we want you to know, it was!
